“Despite housing both a balanced armature driver and an 8mm dynamic driver, IQ makes few, if any, missteps in blending bass with mids, mids with highs, and back and forth ad infinitum. It has the semi-steep U-shaped signature we’ve come to expect from hybrids, and its high contrast sound image helps bring out small stereo details. ”

“There is no perceptible difference in quality of signal between low and hi gain when driving voltage hungry headphones. When driving earphones, hi gain doubles the amount of background noise, which, by the way, is considerable”

” The 598’s extreme detail, revealed subtleties that are imperceptible on lesser headphones. The music bounced around from ear to ear creating the illusion that we were in the middle of an orchestral performance. The open back design made for a spacious sound stage.”

Blumenhofer Loudspeaker €24’900/pr Review

” mall footnote: Upon first setup, I’d gone with the -2dB treble contour to be happy. A few days later, I investigated the horn’s time alignment which after all is adjustable with that movable sled. This option predominantly affected the stage’s depth illumination and outline sharpness aka the plasticity of individual sounds. But it also pooled into my perception of relative treble strength. One can dial the horn for ‘hyper crisp’. And at first that was me. That extreme focus was impressive just then. After a bit though it began to wear and to feel like an image that’s been photoshopped for extra sharpness, with that unnatural edge pixilation as a result. Exactly that disappeared when the time alignment locked in properly. Think rounder edging which was more natural than the laser-cut bits. This also benefited the illusion of three-dimensional voices and instruments. Where I was really going with this is that the scalpel-crisp version also was tonally brighter. I thus recommend to spend some time on this time alignment whilst paying particular attention to focus, definition and spatial illumination. When those values fit, the last thing to trim is the perfection of the tonal balance.”

Outlaw Audio Model 5000 Review

“Soundstage depth and dimensionality across the front three speakers was impressive, and the Model 5000’s sound balance was ever so slightly on the warm side of neutral. There’s gobs of detail and resolution, but the sound never grated on my ears.”

Audi S3 custom Audio System

” This whole structure, as mentioned earlier, sits above the enormous “The One” amplifier which has been flush mounted on the hatch’s floor with the Perspex top panel facing upwards, again, showing all its stunning internal technology. The exterior of the S3 has been kept simple… and minimalist is always best. Clean lines, a slightly lowered stance, debadged and with classy black spoke rims sporting thin rubber.”

NHT SuperBuds Review

April 4, 2015 Comments Off on NHT SuperBuds Review

http://goo.gl/vzh2K4 Read Here

” Coming back around to sound, it almost seems like NHT set out to out-Beats the Tour 2.0 by tuning the SuperBuds to be slightly bassier, warmer, and richer-sounding. The SuperBuds’ bass is a little slower and its midrange – a little more veiled – but the smoothness can sound more natural and the presentation is a little less compressed. The Tour 2.0 is marginally clearer, a bit less full-bodied, and less forgiving at the top. It is also worth noting that the Beats are significantly more sensitive – potentially an issue for the SuperBuds with listeners who wrongly equate loudness with sound quality.”

PMC TWENTY.26 FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKERS REVIEW

“Arguably a more relevant point of comparison is my old pair of PMC OB1i loudspeakers. The OB1i is effectively the predecessor of the Twenty.26, as it’s a three-way transmission-line loaded floorstander of similar height. A major difference, however, is that it uses a 75mm dome midrange sourced from Vifa, as PMC’s own 50mm unit was still just a gleam in designer Peter Thomas’ eye when the original OB1i made its debut more than a decade earlier. ”

Apex Teton – The Ultimate OT Headphone Amp Review

April 4, 2015 Comments Off on Apex Teton – The Ultimate OT Headphone Amp Review

http://goo.gl/OORhF6 Read Here

” The sound of the Apex Teton can best be described as fast, liquid, and immersive. Like other top-of-the-line amplifiers that I have heard, the Teton delivers its unique sound signature in a way that is pretty much flawless. This isn’t some warm tubey-sounding amplifier that as a result of its warmth ends up missing the last bit of detail or feeling slightly veiled”
