“Instead of a fixed motor or drive speed, Fern & Roby’s design employs the synthesis of waveforms to measure the speed of the platter 48 times per revolution by way of a “precision-cut optical interrupter wheel” mounted on the bottom. Essentially, this allows for a smaller (and therefore quieter) motor to bring the platter’s massive weight slowly up to speed, and then reduces the motor’s power to a bare minimum as the platter spins with its own momentum, making incremental adjustments (.003 percent per spin) along the way to keep your records at speed with minimal effort. An LED at the side alternates between green and orange to indicate adjustment”

” In order to make sure that I heard the best sound possible from this amplifier, I wanted to use similar cabling from the beginning of the chain, to the end. Alex Sventitski of WyWires rose to my challenge and sent me a plethora of his company’s Platinum cable line to demo, along with their Red Series headphone cable.”

Moon by Simaudio Evolution 760A Stereo Amplifier Review

” But none of this compares to how this diminutive amplifier could, with commanding authority, project into space three-dimensional images of a scale appropriate to the recording. I tried to get the 760A to clip as it drove my Rockport Atrias (sensitivity: 87dB) to levels I’m sure designer Andy Payor never thought probable, but I failed. Dismally. Instead, I heard from the system a highly controlled yet refined portrayal of whatever I had the guts to throw at it. The 760A deserves respect.”

Trenner & Friedl ART Loudspeaker Review

“Quite recently I enjoyed a lot reviewing relatively inexpensive, amazingly dynamic shelf-speakers by Canadian Bryston. I didn’t think then that so soon after I would have chance to listen to another, even smaller speakers, offering even more impressive performance. In this case it is not about dynamics and fun that make performance so enjoyable, but, as one would expect from much more expensive speakers, about sophistication and coherence of the presentation.

ULTIMATE EARS PERSONAL REFERENCE MONITORS REVIEW

” Yes, psychoacoustically, this was an entirely different kind of listening experience—greatly reduced in size and scale from what I’m used to via loudspeakers, with an entirely different “inside your head” rather than “outside your head” perspective. And yet the PRM’s presentation was so transparent, so finely detailed, so beautiful in timbre, and in its own way so effortlessly powerful in dynamics that nothing of the performance was lost.”

MERRILL AUDIO TARANIS STEREO AMPLIFIER REVIEW

” Keep in mind that Merrill Audio’s most expensive amp is called Veritas, which is Latin for truth. If this Taranis is something of a descendant of the Veritas, then we should expect some semblance of truth in its musical presentation. To my ears, that’s precisely what one gets provided the rest of the system is up to the task. Cue up a very well recorded performance of acoustic instruments or voice in natural space to see what I’m talking about.”

” Both Schiits are sold with two-year warranties, and they’re the same size, just 5 by 3.5 by 1.25 inches (127 by 89 by 32mm), so the stack easily fits on desktops. You could start with just the Magni 2 Uber headphone amp and add the Modi 2 Uber digital converter at a later date.”
