“Looking at the specs like most amps it reckons it can driver impedances between 16 and 300 Ohms and like usual, I pay little attention and have little care to what the specs claim. For power we don’t get all the numbers but we do get a rather impressive 100mw into 300 ohms. Before we even start to talk about how it does with headphones, I want to talk about how it handles my favourite method of on the go listening, IEMs. I still get amazed how much portable amps neglect IEMs, which was just the start of our love for the Leckerton because that’s it main goal. The Aune does good and bad, lets start with the good news. ”

NAD C 275BEE Stereo/Mono Amplifier Review

“The transients in this recording are astounding, especially from the bass drum. Poorly designed amps smear those transients, but through the C 275BEE the attacks were as tight and with as great a sense of slam as I can imagine. This may be a function of the amp’s very high damping factor. The highs were reproduced with exceptional detail, and the mids were quite solid. The band was presented with good depth and width.”

“There’s no fundamental change to the Jamos’ tonal balance – it remains on the lean side of neutral – but the C103s are a better, more convincing listen this way.”

“And if one needs name-dropping to be impressed, how about Jim Kinne, famed former Wadia Digital designer? That’s a name recognisable to hi-fi buffs who regularly read one, or both, of the “big two” US audio print magazines.”

” Driving the exceptionally heavy platter is an exceptionally puny, low-torque, 117V AC motor housed in a round POM cylinder press-fitted into a larger POM disc that sits on elastomer feet. To adjust the motor’s height, you press down or push up on the cylinder. Place the motor housing beside the cutout on the left-hand side of the plinth and fit the stretchy silicone drive belt around the 331/3 or 45rpm pulley and the platter. Place atop the platter the thin foam record mat, and setup is almost complete.”

” All the vocals were a bit highlighted, which gave them only sensuality. Even voices usually quite difficult to reproduce, such as Asaf Avidan, Jon Anderson, Bruce Springsteen singing falsetto, sounded extremely engrossing. But not only men’s voices got an extra portion of sensuality. There was some “Lumin Touch” in the sound – everything was consistent that it sticked me to the speakers for hours. I cann’t omit electronic music, especially this – let’s call it classic – from the old days where analogue synthesizers dominated. Jarre, Vangelis, Detlef Keller – due to the consistency and sound temperature of Lumin, they were all exceptional.”

“Detail level is good, sound stage width is ok, it’s basically what you can expect for an amp of this level. Depth is lacking most in the Ruby but if you compare it to similar priced amps it will be up there with the best. Ruby gives you a more compact or concentrated sound. ”

“The Kharma may very well be the zenith of the two-way floorstander, but it still has its limits, modest though they are. It will be at its effortless best in medium-sized to smaller spaces where it can tap a little extra low end via wall reinforcement. I mentioned earlier the slightly distant audience perspective, and have concluded that there is a narrow frequency dip in the presence range that softens energy there a bit.”
