Polk Audio T50 Tower Speaker Reviewed

” Here’s how I did the measurements. I measured frequency responses using an Audiomatica Clio FW 10 audio analyzer with the MIC-01 measurement microphone, and the speaker driven with an Outlaw Model 2200 amplifier. I used quasi-anechoic technique to remove the acoustical effects of surrounding objects. The T50 was placed atop a 33-inch (84-cm) stand. The mic was placed at a distance of one meter at tweeter height, and a pile of denim insulation was placed on the ground between the speaker and the mic to help absorb ground reflections and improve accuracy of the measurement at low frequencies”

” I have spent many hours enjoying the UE11’s in a critical listening environment. Most of the time though they have been my primary on the go headphones paired up with my iPhone 6+. I ordered the iPhone cable from UE and this is my day to day traveling rig, and I LIKE it!! When you are on the road a lot the opportunity to have convenience and quality as the default option is truly wonderful. Like my favorite pair of jeans when I go out to start my day the UE11’s are what I reach for first. They can dress up or dress down with the best!”

Astell & Kern AK380 $3,500 – REVIEW

” The differences are not knock-me-down, bowl me over, mind-blowingly different. But, they are perceivable. The components that make up this musically superior, abundantly articulated arena of substantial sound quality, usually offer only subtle differences. They are there, but you have to exert effort to discover them. If your mind wanders when you listen to music, then this is not the hobby for you. Audiophiles enjoy the thrill of the chase, and part of that chase, is finding devices that offer slight improvements to the superior gear that they already own. When comparing the tonal balance between the two units, the 380 procures the soundstage and distributes the frequencies, massaging them with more aplomb. When listening to Grant Green’s, “Green With Envy”, Grant’s jazz guitar is heard in masterful abundance from beginning to end. His style, akin to Wes Montgomery’s, has him slurring and blending difficult to hold diminished chords, from the top of the guitar’s neck to the bridge. As he holds his chords in tact, one can try to discern the 4 or 5 notes that the chord consists of, living in a coherent harmony, as he traverses through the octaves.”

iBasso D14 DAC/headamp Review

” The backplate is similarly fuss-free: there’s an SPDIF in and a mini USB in that doubles as a charge point. There’s also an on/off switch to control whether the unit will draw power from its USB source or from the internal battery. Especially important when running it off a phone or a laptop that’s not charging, as it’s quite a power drain.”

TRINITY AUDIO DELTA REVIEW
December 16, 2015 Comments Off on TRINITY AUDIO DELTA REVIEW
” Well the sound of the Trinity Audio Engineering Delta is going to be determined by what filters you choose to use with them. I have mentioned before that I don’t usually mess about changing my sound filters on other earphones once I have settled on a sound signature I like. Whilst some people will no doubt endlessly play around with there filters I wont be doing that. However, I did manage test out all the filters as part of this Trinity Audio Delta review but found, for the most part, that the bass filters were most suited to my preference. ”

Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Wireless Speaker Reviewed

” Why are soundbars and wireless speakers so popular these days? Sure it’s about simplicity, but it’s also about convenience. Why do people listen to music from the speaker in their phone? Because it’s at their fingertips…it’s a single button push. Only audiophiles want to take the time to ensure that what they’re listening to sounds the best it possibly can at all time”

Avantgarde Acoustic Duo $14,477 – Review
December 15, 2015 Comments Off on Avantgarde Acoustic Duo $14,477 – Review
” The Duos seemed to effortlessly fill the room with hall “sounds”. The ambience and timing of the reflected sounds a hall provides is a good part in the overall musical experience. The 47 Laboratories Gaincard and also the Wavelength Audio Cardinal really mated well with the Duos in this regard as compared to other amplifiers in my humble abode. If there is one thing the Duos will certainly let you know, it is the quality of the equipment it is mated to. This Chesky recording offers a reviewer such as myself a real reference for the low level resolution of a piece of gear while also getting a great dynamic workout. The Duos handled everything extremely well and I was especially pleased with the clarity of the subtle details. Properly sized imaging (not fake pinpoints) and complete rendition of overall soundstaging was left bare for my enjoyment was improved over the Unos. The Duo hornspeakers were more harmonically correct”
