OPPO HA-1 HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER AND PM-1 HEADPHONES REVIEW

” I did try out several other sets of headphones with the HA-1. It did a really nice job of driving the Audeze LCD-3s, giving a good sense of power on tap and excising the sluggishness that I’ve experienced with these ‘phones on other amplifiers. The MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Prime headphones were also a decent match, although having re-tuned them for tube amplification not too long ago, I found that in turn they were a little lean with the HA-1. I kept coming back to the PM-1s, though; it’s inescapably obvious that they were designed with the HA-1 in mind, and they mesh so well that I felt the two together were greater than the sum of their parts.”

Sony SS-NA2ES Loudspeaker $10,000 Review
January 3, 2016 Comments Off on Sony SS-NA2ES Loudspeaker $10,000 Review
” The realistically sweet and smooth delivery of the higher frequencies would indicate the engineers at Sony have achieved their objective of getting the three tweeters to behave like one ultra wide dispersion tweeter. The added benefit here is that the SS-N2ES delivered an unusually wide sweet spot.”

Advanced AcousticWerkes W300AR Hybrid Review

” Well these are hybrid CIEM’s, and the dynamic driver takes care of the lows, to very good effect. You get very dynamic and full lows that are more articulate and fuller than most BA based CIEM’s at this price can deliver. They are also however very well controlled, steering clear of bloating and warming up the mids. The lows are fast and can keep up with most rock music, but are best suited to filling out the sound of acoustic and jazz, or even slower rock. They offer good punch and have very good body, they never sound flat or hollow. Bass guitars sound excellent, and the lows extend very deep. Quantity wise they won’t satisfy bass heads, but they have enough to satisfy and I would say they are slightly above neutral in presence and quantity, this is not a bad thing.”

“We’ve had an amazing run over here at Part-Time Audiophile and quite frankly, I’m continuously baffled by that. Clearly, you, our readership, have some serious issues with maturity, taste, and time-management. God bless you.”

Apple Rumored to Be Launching 24/96 Streaming in 2016
January 2, 2016 Comments Off on Apple Rumored to Be Launching 24/96 Streaming in 2016
” Maybe my October 19, 2015, article entitled An Open Letter Tim Cook Regarding HD Music actually worked. MacRumors.com is reporting that Apple has plans to launch 24-bit/96-kHz hi-res audio streaming in 2016. Specific details are scarce, but the story suggests that the Lightning connector on newer Apple devices with iOS 9 or better can support audio up to 24/192 and that third-party audio manufacturers are already working on their own Lightning cables in anticipation of this announcement. Of course, it’s all rumor at this point, as Apple has made no official announcement. The company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference, during which many big announcements occur, doesn’t happen until June of 2016.”

Final Sonorous Review
January 2, 2016 Comments Off on Final Sonorous Review
” Final of course make up for it with their richly gilded heavy-metal connectors. They supply a shorter 3.5mm terminated leash and longer version. On surface treatments, anything this mirror polished is greedily prone to skin oils, dust and sundry usage marks. To maintain such immaculate gleam requires a micro-fibre polishing cloth and fussy applications thereof. No cloth was included but should be. On fit & finish in the flesh rather than as photoshopped perfect hero shots, the Sonorous X lived up to their glossy promise. They looked every bit as posh as they did in the adverts. Living up to published 105dB screamer promise was full lift-off at 60% on the dial of even a now ancient 160GB iPod Classic. My RWA-modified ‘zero output impedance’ Astell&Kern AK100 showed 35 on its needle. Questyle’s QP1R sat at 15 in hi-gain mode.”

AIRIST AUDIO HERON 5 REVIEW
January 2, 2016 Comments Off on AIRIST AUDIO HERON 5 REVIEW
” I’d like to alter my format for reviews just a little here, as I’d usually start off with the Bass experience and drop into mids, treble and other traits in that order. This time, I’d like to start off with the general tone of the amplifier, which I find to be nothing short of immaculate and unlike most other amplifiers I’ve heard in an extremely long time.”
