“The subjects of this write up are the brand new Micro iUSB 3.0, an upgrade to the iUSB, and the dual lead Gemini USB cable, which starts at $189. The iUSB 3.0 is significantly different product in some ways, and the price has increased to $399. The build quality on both is superb, and both are made in Asia to iFI’s rigorous standards. I must also say the packaging for all iFI products is first class.”

HOW TO NETWORK YOUR MAC MUSIC SYSTEM WITH THE RASPBERRY PI AND HIFIBERRY – PART 1
January 18, 2016 Comments Off on HOW TO NETWORK YOUR MAC MUSIC SYSTEM WITH THE RASPBERRY PI AND HIFIBERRY – PART 1
“The push to finally do something about this came when I was contacted by HiFiBerry, who make a number of add-on audio boards for the Raspberry Pi. They offer a DAC, a digital output board, and a 20W Class D amplifier. Combine one of these boards with a Raspberry Pi and some free or almost-free software, and you can put together a neat little networked audio streamer for a bit over a hundred dollars, and with very good sonic results. I’ve dubbed this whole notion PiFi.”

WILSON BENESCH A.C.T. ONE EVOLUTION REVIEW
January 17, 2016 Comments Off on WILSON BENESCH A.C.T. ONE EVOLUTION REVIEW
” The A.C.T. One Evolution is also extraordinarily detailed from top to toe. These are great loudspeakers for musical analysis, for listening into the music and extracting both a lot of information and – more significantly – a lot of fun. Play something like Bach’s Art of Fugue [Emerson String Quartet, DG] and you need to hear both the cerebral and the visceral. This should be extremely precise and very clearly a string quartet, but it should also come with a sense of musical joy and vivacity, taking the birthplace of modern music and making it their own. Less detailed loudspeakers fail at one of these two aspects, either making the precision or the fun-factor disappear. Wilson Benesch’s A.C.T. One Evolution combines both elements of the recording with lithe elegance. Paradoxically though, what the A.C.T. One Evolution doesn’t do is pretend to be a studio monitor. If you want that stark, flat sound… look elsewhere”

RBH EP3 In-Ear Monitors Reviewed

“The first thing to jump out at me about the EP3’s performance was the bass, which was more pronounced than that of my B&W P7 over-the-ear models. Is that good? It depends on your preference. The EP3 may serve up more bass than some audiophiles would prefer, but I found the quality of the bass to be excellent. ”

Kronos Pro Limited Production turntable review
January 16, 2016 Comments Off on Kronos Pro Limited Production turntable review
” Louis Desjardins is of no different than others, he is confident in his design and in the way he perceives musical playback. He has been an audiophile for many years, a collector of fine records, of vintage loudspeakers and has had exposure to reel to reel playback. Thus, he believes it vital that the energy stored in the music, may it be emotion, artistry, or soul, be projected out through the audio system and this has to start at its source, the turntable. He wants the musical playback experience to be as native and raw as the actual performance captured on the master tape. The list of what Louis seeks in an audio system can go on and on. I can assure you it’s not a short list. I can assure you that my list is not short either, being an audiophile traveling on this high end journey for so many years. I think you know where I am going with this … we are both fanatical about our hobby.”
