EMPIRE EARS THE ZEUS REVIEW

” ’d say there is a slight dip in the lower treble; while there’s enough air and space between the instruments, Zeus doesn’t have a particularly sparkly sound overall. This also means it’s spared from almost all sibilance, unless it’s present in the recording. Its extension through the mid and higher treble is excellent; Zeus resonates with great transparency, while remaining very controlled and non-fatuiging in longer sessions due to the linearity. Articulation and decay is quick and precise. All in all, very refined. A gentleman’s treble – without sounding dull.”

SIMAUDIO NEO 430HA HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER REVIEW
March 7, 2016 Comments Off on SIMAUDIO NEO 430HA HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER REVIEW
“here are differences I should say but they depended a bit on the disc I was playing and weren’t enough to say one of these was the better of the others in these regards. Using the AR-1s the 430HA had a just slightly chunky character that I favor, but the solid soundstage is something the others couldn’t match.”

Do vinyl LPs wear out? The Audiophiliac takes on that myth
March 6, 2016 Comments Off on Do vinyl LPs wear out? The Audiophiliac takes on that myth
” As for wear-induced noise, most of that comes from playing records with a worn-out or damaged stylus (aka needle) that’s literally gouging the grooves with each play. Any decent cartridge will play records without damaging the groove. Just make sure the stylus tracking force is set to the cartridge manufacturer’s recommendation. A force setting that’s too high or too low can accelerate record wear and noise.”

B&W Zeppelin Wireless Sound System Review

“While not exactly light, the Zep is easy to carry around the home. It spent time on my dresser before I took it into the living room, where it moved around to face my desk, armchair, and exercise bike. It served every conceivable need from rambunctious foreground listening to relaxed background listening to almost subliminal bedtime listening and is one of the few wireless speakers I’ve reviewed that serves all purposes equally wel”

Devialet 400 Integrated Amplifier Review
March 5, 2016 Comments Off on Devialet 400 Integrated Amplifier Review
” With the Devialet 400, bass performance for the Magico Q7 speakers has exceeded my expectations. I did not think it was possible but the sound is even more immediate and tangible—characteristics that the Q7s are already known for. Yes, there is more control, but there is also additional weight and texture—a very addictive combination. Not sure if I have used the term texture for bass before, but it is appropriate here. Again, I must note that SAM is not available for the original Magico Q7 speakers just yet so I cannot comment on its impact in the lower frequencies.”

ULTIMATE EARS UE PRO REFERENCE $1350 REVIEW
March 5, 2016 Comments Off on ULTIMATE EARS UE PRO REFERENCE $1350 REVIEW
“My finding was that the Pro Reference Remastered not only preserves but actually dramatically improves upon the neutrality of the original Pro Reference Monitors. Where the original had a very, very subtle touch of bass lift, the new model delivers more deeply extended bass and an ever so slight more tautly controlled bass presentation. And where the original Pro Reference Monitors had a tendency to sound softly focused or even slightly rolled-off at the highest frequencies, the new model has noticeably great treble extension, superior focus, and better overall top-to-bottom resolution than its predecessor. Although it’s an overworked expression, the fact is that, musically speaking, there is simply more ‘there’ there in the Pro Reference Remastered, making for a significantly more engaging and rewarding musical experience overall.”
