” What yours truly can say is that the MAXiiMUS P16 comes at 5 kg and only uses 0,4 Watt. It ́s based on the principles of harmonizing electrosmog, and the pictures I took together with USB and digital cables is just to show the size of the MAXiiMUS, and not meaning they have to be connected to the unit.”

Woo Audio WA8 amplifier Review

” The WA8 also sounded great with my hard-to-drive, high-impedance (600 ohm) Beyerdynamic T 1 full-size headphones; the amp sweetened and warmed up the sound. I next played my low-impedance (32 ohm) Grado RS-1 headphones with the WA8, and compared it with an Aurender Flow portable digital converter/headphone amp ($1,295/AU$1,799). The solid-state Flow was a touch more laid-back and mellow; the WA8 more transparent, low-level detailing and spatial cues were more vividly presented. While you might expect the tube amp would be more “tubey,” the solid-state Flow softened details more than the WA8″

Manger p1 Review

“Manger’s ingenious drive unit replicates the basilar membrane in the human ear and produces acoustic signals that are temporally and tonally correct at the same time. Avoiding the piston-shaped movement of a conventional driver, Manger created a bending-wave transducer with a flat, circular membrane of angular flexible foil, excited by a voice coil to make back and forth movements. Yet, and here’s the clever part, its waves radiate concentrically from the centre to the edge; the voice coil only having to excite the membrane’s centre for the sounds to be radiated by the bending waves around the coil.”

PHATLAB AUDIO PHANTASY REVIEW

” In both hi-Z and low-Z settings, it supplies a rich, but clear signal with a great affinity for female vocals – to certain headphones. And, both Z settings are bass light. Being a very tubey amp, Phantasy puts out loads of harmonic distortion, and is prone to early onset of IMD both under load and not. The good news is that sizzling IMD doesn’t affect normal to loud listening levels with any load I have tried. I listen to the 600Ω DT880 at volume levels no higher than 15% – 20%, at which settings, IMD is about as low as you can expect from a SET design. Phantasy kicks out sizzle-free signal into the DT880/600 up to a rotation of about 50% of its volume pot, which is well loud.”

Puro Sound Labs BT5200 Review

” The imaging on this recording did in fact take a good step forward so I was heartened to see that these headphones could scale with better hardware and recordings. The overall presentation still offered a warm and seductive performance that really drew me in and put a smile on my face. The layering of the bass/mids/treble was done quite well and dare I say, even on par with my favourite on-ear headphones the Beyerdynamics T51p headphones (but these come in at almost 3X the price). The final bits of refinement and clarity (especially comfort and overall build quality) still go to the T51p’s, but the BT5200s were not far behind and for those on a shoe string budget, I cannot recommend these more highly! ”

Audio Reference Technology Monolith SE cable system Review

” If you are looking for an organized stage with great, full-bodied imaging, “Miss You” from the Rolling Stones will fill the bill. This one I just had to crank up. Feeling “in the room” with real presence due to meaty, well-defined images, this song has held up remarkably well. It sounds more like funk than disco now some 30 years later. The Doobie Brothers “ Listen To The Music” brings all the great traits of the A.R.T. Monolith SE cable together. Great imaging, full bodied yet airy, mind you. Image specificity was solid yet it was the timbre that really caught my attention. Instruments sounded remarkably life-like. I think there could be some inner detail left to explore but my guess is the leading products in the A.R.T. line may provide that level of deeper insight. But listening to “ Listen to the Music,” I can’t help but realize that is exactly what the A.R.T. cable does, it lets me “listen to the music” in a very special and deeply engrossing way.”

SENNHEISER HD800S HEADPHONES REVIEW

” As accurate as they ever were. The highs are notably detailed without being sibilant – the HD800s can be listened to at decent volumes without severely piercing the ears. The famous 5.5-6k peak has been finally smoothed out, which leaves an overall smoother listening experience. The famous crisp and detailed highs of the HD800 still remain, and compliment the rest of the spectrum perfectly.”

” Away from this it has things that appeal. The desktop app and smartphone controller are good; you can import your own music (250 songs for free, more if you pay a fee); digital versions of any music purchased via Amazon over the years are freely incorporated; it’s ad-free; and playlists, recommendations and offline access are all supported.”

AUDIO RESEARCH GSI75 INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER REVIEW
April 9, 2016 Comments Off on AUDIO RESEARCH GSI75 INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER REVIEW
“Even that headphone amp is no simple afterthought, and given the antipathy most conventional audio brands have toward the headphone world, we might expect something a little so-so here. In fact, the headphone amp is powerful, detailed, and dynamic. It’s also got that unique ‘clean, yet warm’ sound of ARC, and is not afraid to apply that to all bar the most recalcitrant of headphones.”
