SONUS FABER VENERE S FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKER REVIEW
September 23, 2016 Comments Off on SONUS FABER VENERE S FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKER REVIEW
” It’s not just wry comic opera that works with the Venere S. Short of black metal played loud (where things, perhaps unsurprisingly, get a little too shouty), the Sonus faber Venere S simply draws you closer to the music and helps you re-engage with the passion for sound that started you along this audiophile quest. As someone who churns through a lot of audio equipment in the course of the average month, it’s easy to get somewhat jaded, and the Venere S’ resparking of my musical passion is worth its weight in gold.”

” Another effect of the change to the tonal balance in the Ether C Flow is that it doesn’t have the immediate sense of space or air that the Ether C v1.1 has. I sometimes like to think of audio gear as a spectrum of sounds from dry and analytical on one side (e.g. HD800) to lush and musical on the other (e.g. HD650). I think the original Ether C definitely leaned towards the analytical side of the spectrum and now it’s shifted towards the musical side.

1MORE TRIPLE DRIVERS – REVIEW

” All comparisons were done using the iFi micro DAC / headphone amplifier. Each earphone was tested at least five times. The first try was just to optimize the ear tips. This was not easy for me and at first I chalked up my struggle to achieve a good physical seal to a combination of my idiosyncratic ears and lack of thorough testing on the manufacturing side. Each ear is physically unique, which is why professionals have custom-made ear tips. That said, a smidgen of hand crème on the ear tips greatly improves the positioning process.”

“Now for something a bit different, Metallica. I recent attended the Metallica show here in Minneapolis at US Bank stadium. It was one of the best shows I’ve seen, although it sounded less than stellar. My renewed enthusiasm for Metallica forced me to find the best sounding copy of the album … And Justice For All. It’s my favorite Metallica album, right in between the band’s early thrash metal and the heavily-produced pop metal year”

“ou can tell from my listening impressions above the JH13V2 had my complete attention and had me engulfed with music. The sound coming from this exceptional product left me wanting for nothing. The adjustable bass can be tailored to your liking with the Moon Audio connector. ASTELL&KERN AKT8IE IN-EAR MONITOR $999 REVIEW

“The most impressive aspect of the T8iE’s sonic performance was its cohesion. Not only did it speak with one voice throughout its frequency range, but it also produced one of the most cohesive soundfields I’ve experienced. It’s easy to understand the T8iE’s harmonic cohesion because of the single full-range driver and lack of any crossovers, but what about its spatial characteristics? Since I have no aspirations to design headphones I won’t speculate on why the T8iE’s imaging is so precise and dimensionally convincing, but I can confidently state that once you hear the way the T8iE places each instrument in space it’s hard to go back to a less three-dimensional headphone’s presentation.”

Gryphon Audio Designs Diablo 300 Integrated Amplifier-DAC €17,600 Review
September 20, 2016 Comments Off on Gryphon Audio Designs Diablo 300 Integrated Amplifier-DAC €17,600 Review
“I expected Gryphon’s übermasculine he-amp to sound boorish and something of a lout, with punctuated highs and overemphatic bass. But the Diablo 300 had all the grace and finesse of a ballet dancer. Like a Navy Seal who joins a seniors’ book club, or a lumberjack addicted to yoga, the incongruity was almost risible. That’s not to say that the demonic Dane was too kind to recordings. No, Gryphon’s flagship integrated expressed itself quite comfortably.”

FIRST WATT AMPLIFIERS BY NELSON PASS F7 REVIEW

“Solo soprano exhibited plenty of energy and presence via the J2/Druid pairing. Perhaps there wasn’t quite the sense of silky smoothness I heard when using the SIT-1s, but the extension and presence were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. The J2 also did a fine job of letting the microdynamics of the female voice shine through, as I easily registered those slight variations in tone, texture, and volume that a really good vocalist can call upon when required. Oh, and the massed choral voices …. Oh my”
