” High hat cymbals shimmered crisply and with just the right tonal sheen. Van’s weary vocals had that weight of the world feel conveying the relief at his journey turning homeward bound. The NightHawks paired with the Questyle conveyed the emotion of the track as needed. The NightHawk’s are a wonderful pairing with the Questyle rig.”

” The fit and finish on the R300 is, in a word, excellent. My demo pair has the optional walnut veneer, and it’s quite striking — smooth to the touch but not annoyingly glossy or the “under glass” pour of acrylic that some lacquerers seem to bury their wood under. Here, the finish is almost matte, is elegant, and speaks to a level of refinement that I think most of us would aspire to”

” This chant was composed by the 13th-century German abbess and mystic Hildegard von Bingen, and the DSJ was sublime in its ability to preserve the acoustic of St. Jude and the grandeur of the music in this beautiful recording, and helped deliver the composer’s intent: to connect the listener with something higher. Again, the DSJ was notable for what it didn’t do, moving aside to let the music pass through unadulterated. Could the DSJ make me forget that I was listening to music in the comfort of my home rather than in an English church? Of course not — but it was still commendable for making it easier for me to imagine myself being there through its ability to convey detail and space in a natural, believable way.”
