Auralic Altair Wireless Streaming DAC $1899 – Review
December 20, 2016 Comments Off on Auralic Altair Wireless Streaming DAC $1899 – Review
” The Altair’s extended treble energy is obvious. It’s a little on the lean side; and can get a bit edgy when the volume is cranked. Although I felt the deepest octaves suffered at times from a slight lack of definition, overall bass reproduction was excellent; solid, front and center, and tuneful—seriously dynamic bass that reaches into deep space.”

MAGICO Q-SUB 15 AND RAIDHO D-5.1
December 18, 2016 Comments Off on MAGICO Q-SUB 15 AND RAIDHO D-5.1
” Having done so many of them, I know that frequency response charts can be chameleonic and misleading, but this one (which is only 1/12th octave smoothed) actually comes close to reflecting the way the Raidho D-5.1/Magico Q-Sub 15 system sounds in my room. As you can see, though the bass still shelves up at 70Hz, it is very linear from there through 20Hz (actually through 15Hz!), and the huge peak at 50–60Hz is gone.”

DAN D’AGOSTINO MASTER AUDIO SYSTEMS MOMENTUM INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER £45,000 REVIEW
December 16, 2016 Comments Off on DAN D’AGOSTINO MASTER AUDIO SYSTEMS MOMENTUM INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER £45,000 REVIEW
“The D’Agostino Momentum Integrated is one of those rare products that stands out even among highly-respected rivals. It’s one of those designs where the only thing better than the Momentum is more Momentum; a move to separate preamp and mono amps – even the pre and stereo amp might be a bit of a sideways move rather than a leap forward. If you are looking for what is quite simply the best integrated amplifier out there – and have the shelves to take it – the Momentum Integrated is the heavyweight champion. Very highly recommended!”

NUFORCE UDAC5 REVIEW
December 16, 2016 Comments Off on NUFORCE UDAC5 REVIEW
” That the uDAC5 does what it does and powers what it powers from such a small, and well-built a package, is incredible. Its RCA and coaxial leads are anchored better than a number of high-end desktop DACs I’ve used. Each is bolted down, and fitted secretly in its niche. Labels are legible and logical. The front plate of my unit bends out from the body slightly and the attenuator plays a bit, grinding slightly against the case. But this is a 200$ do-it-all DAC that’s smaller than an AK100. Like the BE6i, its engraved logo is perfectly machined and brilliantly positioned. Apart from the awful Hi-Res logo sticker across its top, Nuforce uDAC5 branding is top notch.”

Hsu Research VTF-2 mk5 Subwoofer Review
December 16, 2016 Comments Off on Hsu Research VTF-2 mk5 Subwoofer Review
” . Overall, the enclosure is a simple and sturdy design. More bracing might be welcome, but the thick paneling should compensate for that to an extent. I never felt any sidewall vibration or detected panel resonance in my time with the VTF-2 mk5. One note about the port and included port plugs is it can be a nuisance to remove the plugs if they are pushed in too far; make sure there is an edge of the port plug available from which to grab them to pull them out. They do not have to be shoved in very far to create an air-tight seal.”
