‘The Lyra II’s lower midrange is slightly dipped by 2-3dB below it’s vocal and upper midrange tuning. Instruments though remaining clean and clear simply don’t overwhelm and instead are positioned to offer a better sense of space for vocals to shine and take focus on the Lyra II. It is not overly excessive but Campfire has given just enough to resonate over the rest of the mids without pulling in the entire soundstage and closing down space”

“I just did something I don’t often do — pulled out a Pink Floyd album. For the most part I left this group behind when I lost my last bong. But my half-speed mastered LP of Wish You Were Here (LP, Columbia APH (C) 5000) called to me across the centuries from another life. I’ve never liked most of the tracks on this album — they’re just too obvious, too AOR. But “Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts VI-IX” is a compositional wonder. And what a delight this album was through the Liszt Concertos. Spacious and profound, this eulogy for Floyd founder Syd Barrett still makes me shiver. ”

” I know that Rega turntables have been positively reviewed around the globe. I’ve enjoyed every system I’ve heard that has included one, and I’ve recommended Regas to countless music-loving, non-audiophile friends. But I’ve always wondered—what is the source of that “pacey,” boogie-down Rega sound? Is it the AC motor? Is it simply that Rega platters tend to rotate a bit too fast, as some have found?
