Dynaudio Contour 20 loudspeaker $5000 Review
April 3, 2017 Comments Off on Dynaudio Contour 20 loudspeaker $5000 Review
“Just when I began to believe that subjective and objective audiophiles would never agree, Dynaudio’s new Contour 20 stand-mounted loudspeaker performed well on both the poetic and scientific levels. The Dynaudio Contour 20 is the first speaker I’ve heard that might actually be as neutral (I hate that word) as the best headphones. It displayed a near-perfect balance of the Apollonian and the Dionysian. It leaned a touch more toward the left side of my brain than I prefer, but not too much—just enough that I would never feel guilty recommending it to an objective-type audiophile.”

PS Audio BHK Signature 300 Mono Amplifiers $14,998 Review
April 3, 2017 Comments Off on PS Audio BHK Signature 300 Mono Amplifiers $14,998 Review
“he 300 Monos’ sound was wonderfully neutral — from the lowest bass through the highest highs, no part of the audioband was too pronounced or relaxed. The music I listened to was reproduced exactly as I believe it was recorded. “Mein Teil,” from Rammstein’s Reise, Reise (16/44.1 AIFF, Island), is as forward a recording as you’d expect from a German heavy-metal band that uses copious amounts of fire and explosions in their shows. Richard Z. Kruspe’s progressions of short, rapid, distorted chords on strident lead guitar were pushy and in my face, and the 300s held none of that back. Lead singer Till Lindemann’s deep, guttural voice reached across the room to assertively articulate precisely what he had to say. ”

AKG ACOUSTICS N90Q HEADPHONES REVIEW
April 3, 2017 Comments Off on AKG ACOUSTICS N90Q HEADPHONES REVIEW
This AKG N90Q is an impressive headphone design that pushes the boundaries of what a headphone can do, rather than simply making another top-end design. Whether the next generation of headphones will feature active DSP and built-in DACs remains to be seen, but certainly the likelihood is as more people turn to wireless portable audio, so the headphones will do more to help improve the sound they are fed from Bluetooth, so this might be an evolutionary step toward that goal. But, perhaps more importantly in the short term, the N90Qs more than deserve their place as the top of the AKG tree. The Q keeps on churning out the hits!”

V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless – Review
April 2, 2017 Comments Off on V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless – Review
” The Crossfade 2 Wireless is solid headphone, both in build and in acoustic quality. The sound signature is delightfully thought out, excited yet refined and translates very well into the wireless realm. The exterior also showcases some of the finer points of headphone design, harnessing appealable style without every looking to gaudy, something that quite a few headphone manufacturers have yet to fully grasp. Its really convenience dialed up to the maximum, in a way that works without interfering with your life as you move from point A to point B. Its worth an audition to anyone looking for a headphone, wireless or wired”

LABKABLE SAMURAI III IEM CABLE REVIEW
April 2, 2017 § 1 Comment
” Labkable Samurai III is not a cheap aftermarket cable. However, there is a significant improvement over stock cable in terms of the midrange resolution, the airiness of the bass department, and the space around instruments. I would definitely recommend Samurai III to those who need to hear a more open tone and a more airy presentation with a better resolution. Labkable, as a brand, has a strong background and a R&D department. In that regard, they know how to tune a good cable. The Labkable cables that I tested deserve appreciation and they are worth their prices.”

ATI AT527NC and AT524NC Amplifiers $3,695 Review
April 2, 2017 Comments Off on ATI AT527NC and AT524NC Amplifiers $3,695 Review
“The same could be said of the amp’s performance on the title track from Janis Ian’s Grammy-nominated Breaking Silence. The FLAC file has a very analog vibe to it, even though it was sourced from a CD. I love using it to test dynamics and imaging. The song opens with a quiet solo-voice section that draws you in before the close-miked percussion and acoustic guitar enter. With highquality equipment, you can actually hear the fingers moving over the guitar strings, and that’s exactly what you get with the ATI: unabashed transparency. The amp doesn’t color the sound in any perceptible way, which is how I like it and how it should be.
