“Next comes the meticulous hand-matching of all components – a tedious process considering the plethora of discrete parts employed in the device. This, plus the various upgrades mentioned by Sarmento above, allows Wyred to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of their existing design. Nearly ten years of digital adventures come to fruition here – the best DAC Wyred knows how to make in the here and now.”

“”The decoupling materials have been sourced from AcoustiGuard via their Toronto, Ontario, Canada distributor – Wilrep Ltd. I’m using their Iso-Sep PM as the under lay on the floor and high quality vinyl roll flooring on top of the underlay. Sound Channel Acoustic Wall Fabric is glued to the side walls for diffusion and the Art Diffusor Model D that it will be used on the rear wall. Those are sourced through Acoustics First.com. Their site provides 2D and 3D plots showing the dispersion characteristics of all of their diffusion panels – the only company site I know of that does this.”

VPI MW1 Cyclone Record-Cleaning Machine $1200 Review

“I found the MW-1 Cyclone easy to care for. There’s a drain tube around the back that VPI says should be used to empty the reservoir after every six records. I often spilled a bit of fluid off the edge of the record, and, per VPI’s suggestion, used a cloth to soak it up right away. The seams around the edge of the plinth (for want of a better term) are sealed with clear silicone caulk — the Cyclone seems essentially waterproof. But it’s better to be safe than sorry, especially given that under the plinth are a motor and bearing, neither of which will appreciate coming in contact with water.”

Constellation Audio Revelation Taurus Mono Amplifiers $39,000 Review

“Although the Revelation Taurus Monos’ high power was far more than the Dynaudios needed, as I was already reviewing them, I used the Taurus Monos for them anyway because of how well they controlled the speakers’ drivers, particularly the woofers, and how much detail they could provide. I felt as if I was giving the Fortys their best chance to shine — which they did, with hi-rez sound very transparent to what was on the recordings (save for the low bass). When that review is published, you’ll read that I describe the Forty as being one of the most neutral two-ways Dynaudio has ever made. I felt confident coming to that conclusion because I knew that the amps were contributing no colorations of their own, which makes them a great reviewing tool for speakers.”

“Once they’re on your head, they’re pretty difficult to take off. With its superbly warm-blooded and soulful sound, I went through more playlists than usual without even realizing it. They’re tonally engaging while being fun, accurate, and largely genre-independent. A very sonically-controlled headphone where voices never get lost and music never sounds congested no matter what you’re listening to.”

“I only have my trusty Vorzuge Pure ii amp for reference but what I hear is just what you’d expect to hear from such an honest and milky sounding amp. I have plugged my Pure ii into a few devices with some adverse effects. This is not the case with the AR-M2. It’s exactly how it should be. Everything that holds true for the character of the Pure ii the sound is simply there without any mess or sudden schizophrenic changes.”

Kipnis’ outer limits $6 millions theater

“Thus, from the deepest deep bass (10 hertz) up to the extreme high-frequency range (100 kilohertz), the KSS is the most full-range system I’ve ever heard—and felt. The speakers are fed by a well-balanced combination of audiophile solid-state and vacuum-tube amplifiers. The KSS is astonishing in the way it delivers power, but with 11,315 very high-quality watts on tap, that’s hardly surprising. Not only can it play ungodly loud, the KSS sounds phenomenal while doing so and never hurt my tender ears. The theater is big but far from huge. Its vaulted ceiling ranges from 8 feet high at the rear end to 16 feet at the screen end of the room (which is 26.5 feet wide and 33 feet long). The 18-foot screen fulfilled my IMAX fantasies, and the projector’s va-va-voom color and brilliant light were transformational. I just tried to take it all in as I scribbled notes, afraid I might miss some of the juicier details.”

“Many years ago, when I was about 14, my father took me to see Count Basie and His Orchestra in concert. To this day, I remember the physical presence of the sound of the horn section, the way it pressed on my chest with a sense of gravity. Recorded music can’t come close to replicating that much air moving in concert, of course, but with the RPM 10 Carbon in my system, it came closer than I’d ever heard it. The trombones had that power-in-silence thing I mentioned just now, but they also had a weight and density that all by themselves made the case for the RPM 10 Carbon.”
