“Don’t be fooled by the PS Audio Stellar M700’s relatively pedestrian looks. Its unassuming matte finish conceals an amazing combination of price, power, and sound quality. Considering that this monoblock puts out 350W into 8 ohms, can double its output into 4 ohms, and costs only $2998/pair, it constitutes one of the most powerful amplifiers available for the money, and should be a relative bargain for anyone looking for a robust power amplifier at a sensible price. The M700s may look innocuous, but whenever I turned them on and cranked up the music, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the quality of music they made.”

“When manufacturer insists to send jointly power amplifiers and preamplifier for a review, this usually means, that a lot of attention, energy and time were dedicated to the synergy between the two and how designer clearly wants a reviewer to experience it.”

VITUS AUDIO SS-103 POWER AMPLIFIER £30,000 – REVIEW

“There are many amplifiers with remarkable resolution and an ability to draw and resolve the finest of filigree detail from the recordings and there are also many that have enormous control, impact, and command from the big to the infinitesimally smallest of things. The Vitus certainly is supremely capable in these areas but there is something rather wonderful about the way it moves the music through time. This is where the flowing water analogy came from. Tempo, timing, and musical phrasing are all massive weapons in any musician’s list of gifts and I think that appreciating them lies at the very core of our emotional relationship with the music we love to listen to. Every musician aspires towards expression regardless of technical ability. Few amplifiers can swing like a Vitus in full flow and the SS‑103 seems to have gained an extra edge of speed here. It is enormously articulate at its leading dynamic edge but also in its recovery, so the amplifier can utilise its considerable assets to full rhythmic effect whether the tempo itself is high and percussive, gentle and slow, or anywhere between.”

“The mellow voices of the women of Trio Medi’val in “St. Birgitta Hymn: Rosa Rorans Bonitatem,” from Rímur, their album with trumpeter Arve Henriksen (24/96 WAV, ECM New Series 2520/HDtracks), sounded extremely natural—gorgeous, really. Ditto the trumpet’s timbre in this track, though the last iota of spaciousness was absent. The low, midrange-strong rasp of Sarah Vaughan singing the title track of her Send in the Clowns, with the Count Basie Orchestra (CD, JVC/XRCD 60246), was toned down, and the sound was to die for.”

“There is an old platitude often used in high-end audio: the perfect amplifier would have the best of both worlds–the beautiful colors, lack of grain, and space/imaging of a great tube amplifier and the dead quiet nature, rock-bottom/tight bass, and transient speed of a great solid-state amplifier. In my 30 years of listening to great amplifiers from Threshold/Pass Labs, I believe that Nelson Pass and his team have come closest to this utopian ideal with the new XA25 amplifier than ever before in their long and illustrious history.”

NAIM AUDIO UNITI NOVA INTEGRATED STREAMING AMPLIFIER MUSIC SERVER REVIEW

“As we went to press on this, Naim served up a beta version of its Roon ready software for testing. This adds an order of magnitude more ‘awesome’ to an already bursting bag of superlatives. Part of the reason Naim’s servers are so robust is the file system is a rigid hierarchy, which you don’t futz around with because it works so well. However, for those who don’t think in quite the same linear way, it can be frustrating (I’ve been told – the truth is once you have used Naim’s hierarchy for as long as I have, other systems seem convoluted and disorganised). Roon allows you to remove such file structures to the ‘forget about it’ part of your brain, and integrate your music into Roon’s music-led jaunt through the catalogue, seamlessly blending TIDAL with your own collection in almost any way you can think of, should you so desire.”

“DirectStream DAC, DirectStream Memory Player, DirectStream Junior DAC, Sprout integrated amplifier, BHK 250 stereo amplifier, BHK Mono 300 amplifier, BHK Signature preamplifier—PS Audio has been on a roll. That roll continues with the Stellar M700 power amplifier. I have had nothing but good experience with PS Audio products; still, with the Stellar M700, my expectations were exceeded. Having little sound of its own, the M700 delivered well-balanced reproduction that was always faithful to the music.

Bryston 14B³ Stereo Amplifier Review

“When it was time for the Sonus faber Il Cremonese speakers to go home, I connected the 14B³ to my stock speaker system: the Vienna Acoustic Schonberg speakers in a 5.1 setup. Being so accustomed to this setup in my room, I could clearly hear the elevated clarity, dynamic range, and imaging I got with the 14B³ connected to the system. While not as impressive as the Il Cremonese, my Vienna Acoustics speakers displayed improved detail and weight in the midrange that I never thought possible with this speaker system. The Schonberg always possessed a smoothness and balanced character, and the Bryston did not take that away, but rather improved upon it with additional subtle sonic details.”
