” Bose’s Centerpoint 3 (that version number is new for Panaray) surround processing produced mixed results. It worked better with compressed sources, such as SiriusXM Radio, than it did with my test tracks. While satellite radio can often sound closed in and flat, Centerpoint will perk up the sound and give it a little wider soundstage. But listening to a good recording that already conveys the position of the musicians and the space around their instruments leaves Centerpoint little to improve upon.”

The -3dB frequency response point was at 50kHz in accordance with the recommended anti-aliasing specifications for DSD, and -6dB was at 62kHz. High resolution PCM or DSD, you’re going to get the same effective performance, barring only the differences in signal processing, and then only if you’re keeping your DSD pure.”

“Like a good centre channel, the front facing tweeter looks expensive and impressive and leads the musical pack. All the other drivers disappear behind silver or black metal grilles. Only a slight yellow hue of Kevlar pokes out. Through the equalizer (our choice, ‘Dynamic’) and musical modes (Individual Stage, Studio, and the choice of your reviewer, the Gothenburg Concert Hall), you can tune the speakers to your musical requirements (changing ‘Intensity’ or ‘Envelopment’ by sliders on the tablet-like screen). Look, you’ll have to suspend musical belief no matter how good the sound, especially if you want a dead centre view of the musical event with perfect stereo. If you can do that, and I could, you’ll be in for musical treats as you wait in the car or drive.”
