MATRIX M-STAGE HPA-3U REVIEW

“The midrange follows suit with the bass in offering a full bodied experience. The mids sit slightly forward and there is definitely some warmth to them. Both male and female vocals are given their proper place in the music, and don’t get buried among the body of the instruments (unless it was recorded that way. In that case, there is nothing you can do about that. That’s my biggest issue with the album Bleed like Me. The voices are mixed too far back). The sound is smooth, and uhhh… very enjoyable. No issues so far with the sound.”
Elekit TU-HP02 REVIEW

As usual, the sound quality evaluation starts with some basic measurements. As far as RMAA’s result goes, TU-HP02’s noise, dynamic range and stereo crosstalk number are pretty good and close to the reference O2. As expected, intermodulation distortion and total harmonic distortion are both noticeably higher due to the purposefully implemented tube-like distortion circuit, though the number are still below the 1% threshold. Frequency response is flat from 20Hz to 20kHz. Output impedance is calculated at 1.4 ohm, which is fairly low. Plenty of current output which means it should have no problem driving even very low impedance headphone. All and all, the numbers look quite solid.
Chord Mojo DAC & Headphone Amp $599 Review

Now to be clear, the existence of the Mojo does not prevent me from lusting after the Naim NDX, Nagra DAC or even have me seeking to recycle the Hugo but it does in reality redefine what digital under £1,000 is capable of doing. How so? Simply put, the Mojo is a window into the music, nothing more, nothing less. During the very positive review of the Oppo HA-2, I ascribed character and traits to it. I found it a little tonally dark and quite forceful in the way it makes music. I rather like this – it reminds me of how my Naim system works but nonetheless it represents a deviation – however small – from absolute accuracy.

Q1 DAC/AMP BY FIIO
October 15, 2015 Comments Off on Q1 DAC/AMP BY FIIO
Powerwise the Q1 does just fine with both sensitive IEMs, portable headphones around 32ohms and gleefully does a decent job of driving the HE400s. That bass boost of the Q1 fattens out nicely on the HE400s giving an added touch of fullness on a headphone not really known for it slamming bass. It won’t command the full potential of the HE400s in terms of imaging and soundstage but it more than adequate for driving capability
REVIEW: ALO AUDIO CDM

Both units don’t come cheap. CDM costs $1495 or €1495. Hugo is a tad more expensive and is going for €1799 but in USD it is $2495. So it’s actually a smaller difference for us Europeans then it is for US based customers. I have to applaud Chord for that really, there’s no reason EU citizens always have to pay more than US citizens. $1000 does not equal €1000, yet we often have to pay that amount, with taxes and administrative fees on top of that. But I’m getting side tracked.

Alpha Design Labs “A1” Live Update Review

” This headphone choice may create a few critical comments as not being neutral or natural sounding, but this is a professional studio monitoring headphone thus should allow for me to hear any faults in the audio signature that the ADL “A1″ may present through a thorough listening session. ”
