“Looking at the specs like most amps it reckons it can driver impedances between 16 and 300 Ohms and like usual, I pay little attention and have little care to what the specs claim. For power we don’t get all the numbers but we do get a rather impressive 100mw into 300 ohms. Before we even start to talk about how it does with headphones, I want to talk about how it handles my favourite method of on the go listening, IEMs. I still get amazed how much portable amps neglect IEMs, which was just the start of our love for the Leckerton because that’s it main goal. The Aune does good and bad, lets start with the good news. ”

” More Headphones Switching to the Sennheiser HD600 headphones produced similar, if not identical, results. The Pink Floyd track lost its unseemly crunch, flowed better, and could be played louder. There was a more lossy-metallic edge in Frishberg, even better hall reverb in The Nice, more hi-hat in Marley, and a less tactile feel to the drums in Brubeck. Overall the experience was equally as pleasurable.”

” The Cloud Nine has excellent full bodied bass and mids at all time, that’s the second thing you’ll notice. At the same time it packs a good punch and has good attack/speed but it could be a little bit faster. Over all I wouldn’t call the CN a neutral sounding amplifier but it’s not overly warm either. It doe however is on the warmer side of neutral and you especially get that feeling because of the full bodied mids and bass. I wouldn’t really say there is an absolute focus on bass but there certainly is more than enough of it and I like it. ”

“The HA-2 employs a hybrid class AB amplification circuit and a convenient asynchronous USB-DAC interface that allows the unit to receive digital audio inputs from any attached device. In my case this included the aforementioned Dell PC and an Apple ipad. The amp utilizes the superb ESS Sabre32 DAC which supports both 384 kHz PCM and DSD256 encoding and offers high-quality digital-to-analog conversion for a wide array of Apple-based devices, PCs and Mac computers. The amp operates on battery power and takes about an hour to charge fully when the battery runs down. I got about 6 or 7 hours of steady playback in-between charges. Even after two weeks of non-use, the HA-2 still retained about 75% of its playback power. Wow!”

“I found the HD650 and O2 combo to be enjoyable, I felt that it skewed the HD650s signature to be more analytical and cold, than its typical sound signature: warm and mid forward. Analytical and cold isn’t bad, just a descriptor, in more detail what I am saying is that it extracted a lot of detail, to the point of making poor recordings unenjoyable.”

” he Trio’s vacuum tube imparts a sweetness that I like, but I admit this amp doesn’t supply the most accurate sound. That’s not the goal here, but the Trio isn’t soft or overly mellow, just ever so slightly richer than what you get from solid-state amps. Also, with very quiet music some background hiss or noise was audible, just barely, but it’s there. I wouldn’t blame the tube for the hiss; I’ve heard hiss from many solid-state headphone amps.”
