PEARS MC-8 REVIEW

July 30, 2023 Comments Off on PEARS MC-8 REVIEW

At present, you can’t choose any shell colors with the MC-8 since it’s completely black without any options. For the faceplates, you can choose from 34 possibilities. My favorites are genuine wood faceplates like I requested for the SH-3 model before, but they cost more which I’ll mention below. You also have 4 different options for the stock cable, 2-pin, or MMCX.
If you have special & specific requests apart from those, I’m sure they can get it done for you. I always say I like slick and simple designs in terms of CIEMs, therefore I’m very happy with my pair. But surely some companies are way ahead on the customization side of things.
My sample has a dark fashion with a black shell and black faceplate. The metallic blue P-EAR-S logo tops the design nicely. With all of my other CIEMs, I chose to have clear shells with some combination of faceplates, but this design of the PEARS MC-8 looks subtle and unassuming which is nice and easy to wear without much attention from the crowd. It oozes business and seriousness overall.

DUNU SA6 MK2 REVIEW

July 23, 2023 Comments Off on DUNU SA6 MK2 REVIEW

The design does not have the standard metal nozzles that we usually see from Chi-Fi brands, resulting in a neat, coherent build. However, this design choice slightly limits tip-rolling with aftermarket tips that have wider stems. In my opinion, the aesthetic appeal of the SA6 MK2 more than compensates for this minor trade-off. The design of the SA6 MK2, with its elegant yet professional stabilized wood faceplates, truly illustrates the look and feel of a proper custom in-ear monitor. Kudos to the team behind it!

7HZ LEGATO REVIEW

July 22, 2023 Comments Off on 7HZ LEGATO REVIEW

The situation in the treble is even more extreme in that perspective. At least the mid-range still has some definition to an extent, but the treble is cut so much that you can’t quite hear any shimmer, sparkle, or detail. So, to me, this is the weakest area of the 7Hz Legato. If you seek a sparkling, highly detailed, and definitive treble, you should stay away from this one and look elsewhere.Perhaps this is a ood trait when playing games or watching movies, where you hear gunshots or explosions occasionally. But from purely a music perspective, this overly-tamed and extremely polite treble presentation carries a problem for clarity and presence.

KINERA CELEST GUMIHO REVIEW

June 19, 2023 Comments Off on KINERA CELEST GUMIHO REVIEW

The Gumiho uses Kinera’s proprietary 10mm Square Planar Driver (SPD™) technology for bass reproduction. This new generation 10*10mm SPD has been developed after extensive testing of numerous driver materials, finally settling on our unique planar material and mechanical design.

On paper, this should result in a breakthrough in low-frequency limits traditionally seen in dynamic drivers, producing a low frequency that maintains depth and volume while providing an excellent transient response.

For the high-frequency range, Gumiho employs Kinera’s Custom Balanced Armature (BA) unit advertised by its “elegance, delicacy, and endurance”.  Combined with a good crossover, this BA unit should blend perfectly with the planar driver, to create a sound that is natural and harmonious.

NOBLE AUDIO VIKING RAGNAR $4000 REVIEW

June 15, 2023 Comments Off on NOBLE AUDIO VIKING RAGNAR $4000 REVIEW

From an ergonomics point of view, the Viking Ragnar is not a very small monitor, so you need to go through the necessary trial & error process. However, with the right ear tips, it is very comfortable which is a nice surprise for me. I have had zero issues with the Ragnar in terms of fit, comfort or isolation.

Sure, they don’t come close to what a custom IEM offers, but this is as good as it gets for a universal. I highly recommend Final Audio E Tips, which I’ll mention in the closing stages of the review. Let’s go on.

WESTONE AUDIO MACH 10, 40, AND 50 REVIEW

I could utilize them to gauge the signer’s level in how well and stable she could hold notes and in every nuance she brought to the table. What I like most about this track is outside of the light piano track and backing vocals, it’s as close a situation as a listener may find themselves in to an artist using In-Ear Monitors for their intended purpose. Except this time we are the silent watchful observer, using such creations to enjoy the performance on hand.

FIIO FW5 REVIEW

June 1, 2023 Comments Off on FIIO FW5 REVIEW

In terms of signal latency, my Snapdragon 865-equipped phone running Android 13 experienced significantly less latency with the LHDC codec in the YouTube app compared to the AptX adaptive codec. I experienced similar results while playing games so if you are planning to game with the FW5 while using the AptX Adaptive codec, don’t. On Android, you’ll have to switch to LHDC or SBC for better latency performance, especially if you want to game using the FW5.

On iOS, the only available codec is as usual the AAC due to Apple’s limitations. I tested Disney+, Netflix & YouTube using 14PMX and the latency was good. I experienced mild latency with games though.

THIEAUDIO PRESTIGE $1,299 REVIEW

May 17, 2023 Comments Off on THIEAUDIO PRESTIGE $1,299 REVIEW

Each pair of faceplates are handcrafted by ThieAudio, with slight variations in appearance and finish. Speaking for my pair, I absolutely love it, as I am a big fan of the space, of the unknown! Overall, the design of the Prestige is visually striking and looks unique. As we have come to expect from Thieaudio, the quality, and workmanship is quite good. I didn’t find any flaws in the parts that are difficult and tedious to make by hand, such as the joints that connect the nozzle to the shell, and the ventilation holes required by the dynamic driver. The handcrafted ThieAudio units we have reviewed before were also flawless in these areas, so we can say that ThieAudio has a very strict quality control phase and we appreciate their attention to detail.

UNIQUE MELODY MAVEN PRO REVIEW

May 16, 2023 Comments Off on UNIQUE MELODY MAVEN PRO REVIEW

The Maven Pro has a couple of unique features, and we’ll go deeper into some of them. First off al, the driver configuration. The Maven Pro uses no less than 12 drivers on each side, with a 4-way crossover and a 4-tuning tunnel design. This setup was first used in the Mentor series. Each frequency range has its own tuning tunnel to fully isolate between frequency sectors. A metal sound tube is connected at the end of the sound tunnel to ensure that the sound tube will not be squeezed out of shape and to maintain the consistency of sound transmission. But back to the drivers.
