HIFIMAN RE2000 IN-EAR MONITOR REVIEW
April 22, 2018 Comments Off on HIFIMAN RE2000 IN-EAR MONITOR REVIEW
“The HiFiMAN RE2000 In-Ear Monitors are an impeccable sounding pair of earphones. To my mind they sound very much like HiFiMAN’s former flagship HE1000 cans in character, just applied to the in-ear format. They have an appealing “alive” sound quality that is exceedingly revealing but never ruthless with any material that I played with them. Sensitive enough to be driven by a smartphone, the RE2000s really come into their own when driven by a quality headphone amp or DAP. Played under those conditions, you get the best of everything. The bass is strong and tight, the vocals lush and the highs sound as sweet as can be. Plus, they are fairly comfortable to boot! The only reservations I have about the RE2000 have nothing to do with their sound quality at all, just with their accompanying accessories. They are sparse, and for the money, I simply would have expected more. Overall however, if you are a discerning listener and are looking for a top notch sounding pair of IEMs, you would do well to audition the HiFiMAN RE2000s. With a good amp, precious little sounds better.”

Westone Wx Review

“Built-in to the Bluetooth standard is a protocol for Hi-Res audio called the aptX audio codec. The aptX codec allows lossless and Hi-Res players to stream audio via Bluetooth without compromising the sound. The result is crystal clear audio because the signal sent is the same audio you’ll receive with the Westone Wx wireless earphone. This works incredibly well with my Oneplus 5T through use of Qualcomm inbuilt aptX codec software.”

AUDEZE ISINE LX REVIEW

“The 10 a very slightly less stellar recommendation but gets a more general nod of approval if this sort of product floats your boat. Fortunately, the 10 can shine a lot better with a simple analogue cable and its RRP actually includes the Cipher cable (although if you are an Android user you actually can just go analogue and save $50). I think the price still jumps over entry level and into the realms above so while if you want an open back IEM you will just be debating whether it’s this you want or the 20, at this point there will just not be any other relevant options between $300-$600.”

Alpha & Delta D6 $99 Review
April 4, 2018 Comments Off on Alpha & Delta D6 $99 Review
“Highs: The highs are very smooth on these, they are well presented with good energy and extension but they never become harsh. The highs are articulate injecting air and shimmer up top but without overdoing it. The only thing that is possibly a bit out up top is the timbre, the overall sound of the D6 is not one that is organic and natural, it leans towards a brighter more analytical sound and there is maybe a hint of metallic tone to it. They are a little colder sounding but without sounding harsh and fatiguing, they are quick and airy.”

Shure KSE1500 electrostatic in-ear headphone $3,000 Review
March 28, 2018 Comments Off on Shure KSE1500 electrostatic in-ear headphone $3,000 Review
“The Shure amp-digital converter build quality feels robust. The headphone’s Kevlar-reinforced cable is thicker, stiffer and heavier than most in-ear headphone cables, and it’s definitely not user-replaceable. Maximum playtime for the KSE1500’s Lithium-Ion battery is 10 hours. The converter’s maximum resolution is limited to 96-kHz (24-bit) PCM files — nowhere as high-resolution as what’s available from Astell & Kern or FiiO music players. Shure includes a handsome leather case for the amp-converter.”

LEAR LUF-Turbo Dual Dynamic Driver IEM Review
March 23, 2018 Comments Off on LEAR LUF-Turbo Dual Dynamic Driver IEM Review
“Conclusion: Well I wasn’t sure what I was getting with the LUF-Turbo, I was expecting bass cannons but instead I was actually pleasantly surprised. These are not flawless, but nothing really is, what these do produce though is a very fun and engaging sound without major dips or peaks. Yes the bass is full and articulate, the mids sit a little behind but do sound quite good, and the highs are definitely there with good energy and sparkle. To get this sound from 2 dynamic drivers is no easy feat, add in excellent build and comfort and these are quite the budget IEM. These are one of those IEM’s you can put in and forget about when out and about; they are not made for critical listening, but for enjoyment.”

Shure’s $3,000 KSE1500 headphones Review

“Listening to Igor Stravinsky conducting his own composition “The Soldier’s Tale Suite,” the purity of the sound was utterly breathtaking. Pink Floyd’s early work, “A Saucer Full of Secrets” was a mind expanding experience. Again, it’s the sense of being there, feeling like I’m breathing the same air as the musicians. You just don’t get that with other in-ear headphones.”

FIIO F9 PRO REVIEW
March 13, 2018 Comments Off on FIIO F9 PRO REVIEW
“You still get a similar emphasis compared to the F9 from 50-100Hz and a very slight sub-bass roll-off but it is not pushing down on the mids with that lower mid dip. Nor is it overly warming up instrumental timbre. As such, the F9 Pro presentation is a bit more balanced sounding than the F9, a touch more forgiving, and still delivering excellent resolution for this price point.”
