Lime Ears Terra Review $1,199 Review

The mid-range of the Terra shines with clarity and vibrancy, bringing instruments to life with dynamic energy. Its transient response aligns with the bass’s excellence, while the timbre strikes a great balance, offering a natural sound without leaning too warm or thick. The mids are well-bodied but stay controlled, maintaining a balanced and refined presentation.
For its price, the mid-range stands out with top-tier definition, transparency, and resolution. The positioning feels precise, and the natural timbre adds to the overall sense of realism. The Terra offers a detailed, engaging, and non-fatiguing mid-range that excels without being too forward or forced.

64 Audio Aspire 4 $899 Review
October 6, 2024 Comments Off on 64 Audio Aspire 4 $899 Review
I am also happy, that 64 Audio included a small lip on the nozzle of the Aspire 4. This is another step forward from their previous universal IEMs, which did not feature it. The lip makes sure, that ear-tips stay on the nozzle when you take the IEMs out of your ears. There have been multiple accounts of that happening to me in the past. And a stuck ear-tip in the canal is no fun.
Overall, the Aspire 4’s build quality leaves me little to nothing to complain about. The ABS shells might not be the most premium choice, but they still look and feel good. Plus, they are a way to cut down costs, which eventually also land at the consumer’s end. And I think all of us agree that paying less is always nice.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 $269 Review

These earbuds deliver superior performance in true-wireless sound and technology. I expect the big companies to use words like “Lossless” when it comes to wireless headphones, and that might be a bit of a stretch because of what I described above. The sound of these earbuds was not night and day compared to others, but it had significantly better dynamics in their tuning for my taste, the best frequency is the low-mids and bass response, and because of this they can be enjoyed with many genres. For comparison, the more expensive Sony WF-XM5 buds sound less alive and with a more constricted soundstage. The Sennheiser Momentum 4 (USD 269.95) is the heavyweight of this class, a great and versatile component. Highly recommended.

BINARY ACOUSTICS DYNAQUATTRO $259 REVIEW
September 5, 2024 Comments Off on BINARY ACOUSTICS DYNAQUATTRO $259 REVIEW
The Binary Dynaquattro features CNC-milled & anodized steampunk faceplates made of aluminum along with a semi-transparent 3D-printed shell. The faceplate design cleverly represents the 3DD+1PR system by matching the wheel sizes to the dynamic driver dimensions. I love these kinds of design details; we all need a touch of creativity once in a while in this crowded market. In addition, the center of the bottom wheel, which appears as part of the faceplate design is actually a hole that serves as a vent for the dynamic drivers, another aesthetically pleasing detail!

Bowers & Wilkins PI7 Review

The PI7’s noise cancelling is effective in the reduction of external noise without any really perceivable effect on the tonal balance of the music itself and the app-controlled adjustment works like a charm too. Sending audio via the case has also worked well. The 3.5mm-to-USB connection is noisier than the standard Bluetooth hookup, but it works without dropouts and provides a genuinely interesting unique selling point. Some brief testing over AAC Bluetooth via an iPad Pro are listenable, but less capable than the higher bandwidth Bluetooth options but this isn’t really the PI7’s fault.

FiiO’s FH19 Flagship $599 Review
August 29, 2024 Comments Off on FiiO’s FH19 Flagship $599 Review
FiiO continues to innovate and surprise up with great products that deliver the goods across a variety of price points to meet consumer needs.
What I find interesting about the FH19 is that it follows the release of the FA19 by only a few months, but both seem to be considered flagship products. However, the newer FH19 is just a little over half the price of the FA19 which makes it a real bargain for those looking for high-end IEM performance.

Westone Audio Pro X10 Review
August 27, 2024 Comments Off on Westone Audio Pro X10 Review
Listening to the Headphone Classics playlist on Tidal, I was pleased with the separation I picked up through these IEMs. I didn’t expect such depth from a single-driver IEM like this one. Everything I played on the Pro X10 had nice dynamics and was fully fleshed out. They sounded like a little hi-fi system plugged into my ears.
If I had any issues with the Pro X10’s sound, it would be a bit of shoutiness in the upper mids on certain songs, but for me, it wasn’t too distracting, and I truly enjoyed these earphones regardless. They could also use just a touch more warmth, but I’m nitpicking now. Overall, these earphones should make those looking for a balanced, mid-focused sound very happy.

THIEAUDIO ORACLE MKIII REVIEW
August 24, 2024 Comments Off on THIEAUDIO ORACLE MKIII REVIEW
The Oracle series represents ThieAudio’s interpretation of budget tribrid studio monitors, designed to deliver a signature suitable for studio or artist environments with solid technical capabilities at a reasonable price. Since the launch of the MkI and MkII, ThieAudio has introduced several technological innovations with the Hype series that they are excited to implement in the Oracle series. By listening to feedback from both audiophiles and professionals, they seem to have found a middle-ground signature that will keep both parties happy. ThieAudio claims the MkIII retains the original Oracle DNA as a capable studio monitor, with bass elevation restricted to the sub-bass shelf to provide instrument body for drummers and bass guitarists while keeping the mids flat and neutral thie-style. Also, the treble has been modified to be smoother than its Oracle MkII predecessor. They also state that upgrading the 3-way crossover to a more complex 4-way crossover system allowed them to utilize the drivers to reach their maximum potential.
