Onkyo W800BT Review

“The W800BTs might be the same price as the Motorola Verve Ones+, but this is where the similarities end. The Onkyos favour a clear and open sound, allowing music to breathe and more detail to filter through. It’s a clean soundstage that sounds uncluttered.”

AKG N40 Review

“Once run-in, the AKG N40 in-ears with the Reference Sound filters installed sound rather fantastic – when driven by a suitable source.
Listening to the earphones plugged directly into an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S7 (or even a MacBook) – gives you a rather flat and unengaging sound with a treble that is rather hard and incessant.”

ADVANCED ACOUSTICWERKES NEBULA ONE REVIEW
September 25, 2016 Comments Off on ADVANCED ACOUSTICWERKES NEBULA ONE REVIEW
“Treble on the Nebula One is a bit of a mixed experience. On the one hand, it isn’t overly harsh, forward, or to too strident but on the other hand, it can sound a little too brittle and thin, especially in the lower treble response. Cymbal and percussion work doesn’t have a really natural timbre though I would not describe them as splashy or peaky sounding, just lacking in body.”

1MORE TRIPLE DRIVERS – REVIEW

” All comparisons were done using the iFi micro DAC / headphone amplifier. Each earphone was tested at least five times. The first try was just to optimize the ear tips. This was not easy for me and at first I chalked up my struggle to achieve a good physical seal to a combination of my idiosyncratic ears and lack of thorough testing on the manufacturing side. Each ear is physically unique, which is why professionals have custom-made ear tips. That said, a smidgen of hand crème on the ear tips greatly improves the positioning process.”

The adjustable bass can be tailored to your liking with the Moon Audio connector. ASTELL&KERN AKT8IE IN-EAR MONITOR $999 REVIEW
September 20, 2016 Comments Off on ASTELL&KERN AKT8IE IN-EAR MONITOR $999 REVIEW
“The most impressive aspect of the T8iE’s sonic performance was its cohesion. Not only did it speak with one voice throughout its frequency range, but it also produced one of the most cohesive soundfields I’ve experienced. It’s easy to understand the T8iE’s harmonic cohesion because of the single full-range driver and lack of any crossovers, but what about its spatial characteristics? Since I have no aspirations to design headphones I won’t speculate on why the T8iE’s imaging is so precise and dimensionally convincing, but I can confidently state that once you hear the way the T8iE places each instrument in space it’s hard to go back to a less three-dimensional headphone’s presentation.”

NUFORCE HEM2 REVIEW
September 16, 2016 Comments Off on NUFORCE HEM2 REVIEW
“The HEM2 is mildly sensitive. At home, I’m comfortable listening to classic New Order through Ryuzoh-modified AK100 at a volume of 29, which would be the upper limit with which I’m comfortable listening to my Ultrasone IQ on the train. It reveals only a little of the AK100’s relatively high levels of hiss and none through the iPhone 6, iPod nano 7G, and similarly noiseless players. This is a great balance. Through most of my favourite earphones, the AK100’s hiss is annoying. HEM2 helps me enjoy the music”
