“I have spent many hours with the SE5U, comparing it with many other newer CIEMs not yet on the chart as well as the top performers and it outshines. Is the SE5U for everyone? No, as sonic preference should also be a major factor in selection. There are those that don’t like the SE5R, and it seems like there are some bad ones out there that are sold and passed on to others, tainting more views. If you think the SE5R is for you when you read the review and comparisons, the SE5U will also be for you.”

Noble 3 Universal Fit In-Ear Monitors Review

” Simply put, the Noble 3’s have a nice, tight, and controlled sound. Lyrics are clean and not muffled. Highs are well presented with a very fast attack and long delay were consistent throughout the highs as appropriate within the music. The midrange is clearly the Noble 3s playground, as they are a bit more pronounced in any mix. The lows are solid, but you don’t get the subwoofer oomph that you know are there. Midway through my testing I purchased a set of Comply Foam Isolation Plus Tx-500 replacement tips. I wanted a better fit than I was getting as sweat was causing my right ear IEM to slip out at the gym. These spring-foam tips were recommended, too. The result? Instant bass boost! My soft ear-tips were very comfortable, but didn’t provide much isolation from extraneous sounds”

PSB SPEAKERS M4U 4 Review

” The build quality to me has been a little underwhelming from such an established brand. I am seeing products come from companies that have just had their products funded by Kickstarter 10x more polished than this and at cheaper price points. I mean the filter in the sound bore on one of my channels was on it side blocking it, I had to get tweezers and go all DIY on it before I even listened. Now while PSB do boast these being lightweight, which is indeed the case due to them being made of plastic, the finish is actually good. What is not is the way the seam is so visible with a gap all the way down the housing and a faceplate that looks so easy to pry off.”

Echobox Finder X1 Review

February 6, 2016 Comments Off on Echobox Finder X1 Review

“As Echobox first IEM, the Finder X1 speaks quality – both sonically as well as aesthetically. If you already got the early bird US$79 deal, I’ll congratulate you for getting a lot of IEM for quite a small price. Even If you are on the January deal of US$149, it is still a good bargain overall. The final retail price of $199 however will definitely put Finder X1 in stiffer competition since that is the same space where some of the best value / performance IEM occupy. So if you are already planning on getting a pair, do it before it is too late – of course, I do want to put the emphasis that the Finder X1 is not for everyone – just make sure you do like a mild U-shaped sound with a bit of brightness. I can imagine music like EDM and string instrument will go particularly well with the Finder X1’s clean and slightly sterile presentation.”

CHORD & MAJOR EARPHONES REVIEW

” A clever little ergonomic touch is the strain-relief connector on the rear of the earphone, which extends beyond the earphone itself. This not only keeps the cable in place, and is a useful place for a fairly obvious Left and Right indicator, but it is also a natural place for your thumb when inserting or removing the earphone. Additionally, it helps positioning the cable for the earphone if you want to use them in over-ear ‘sport’ mode. The cable itself is a 1.2m long ‘no-tangle’ rubber finish, although in the long-held tradition of all things ‘no tangle’, I immediately created some kind of Gordian Knot out of the cables. The little plastic card and the pouch do help.”

OPTOMA NUFORCE PRIMO 8 EARBUDS REVIEW

“Turning to the “instruments” themselves, the Primo 8’s exterior design is something visually different, resembling a pair of tiny blue pineapples or modestly sized sea shells. Each drive housing is attached to its cord via an integrated over-ear loop wire. The loop wires attach and detach from the drive housings by way of little black connectors allowing easy wire replacement and ear tip changes. The wire itself uses a combination of both fine quality silver and copper conductors wound around a Kevlar/silk core. It is also equipped with a smartphone compatible in-line microphone/control pod for portable use. A separate cable without mic and controls is available for additional cost.”
