CHORD & MAJOR EARPHONES REVIEW

” A clever little ergonomic touch is the strain-relief connector on the rear of the earphone, which extends beyond the earphone itself. This not only keeps the cable in place, and is a useful place for a fairly obvious Left and Right indicator, but it is also a natural place for your thumb when inserting or removing the earphone. Additionally, it helps positioning the cable for the earphone if you want to use them in over-ear ‘sport’ mode. The cable itself is a 1.2m long ‘no-tangle’ rubber finish, although in the long-held tradition of all things ‘no tangle’, I immediately created some kind of Gordian Knot out of the cables. The little plastic card and the pouch do help.”

OPTOMA NUFORCE PRIMO 8 EARBUDS REVIEW
February 5, 2016 Comments Off on OPTOMA NUFORCE PRIMO 8 EARBUDS REVIEW
“Turning to the “instruments” themselves, the Primo 8’s exterior design is something visually different, resembling a pair of tiny blue pineapples or modestly sized sea shells. Each drive housing is attached to its cord via an integrated over-ear loop wire. The loop wires attach and detach from the drive housings by way of little black connectors allowing easy wire replacement and ear tip changes. The wire itself uses a combination of both fine quality silver and copper conductors wound around a Kevlar/silk core. It is also equipped with a smartphone compatible in-line microphone/control pod for portable use. A separate cable without mic and controls is available for additional cost.”

” 1More said it designs and manufacturers all of its components from the ground up, including the drivers themselves. In addition to rigorous lab testing, all headphones are tuned by Grammy winning mixing engineer Luca Bignardi. The company says it has sold more than 20 million headphones in China over the past three years and hopes to replicate that success in the U.S.”

” The next four models are the FXA series, beginning with the FXA2 for $199 (which has been tuned with slightly more bass to appeal to drummers and bassists) and topping out with the FXA7, for $499. These models all have a 3D metallic housing in a variety of colors. All models will come with a luxurious Fender carrying case, a set of SureSeal tips, cleaning tool, 1/4-inch adapter, and the silver-plated, low-oxygen cable. The FXA7 uses a pair of tweeters with the dual Hybrid Balanced Armature array, and it’s tuned for both the audiophile and professional recording/mixing engineer looking for a clean, uncolored sound.”

Kennerton JIMO Dual Driver Review
January 28, 2016 Comments Off on Kennerton JIMO Dual Driver Review
” The Jimo’s detachable cable also sport the same high quality design philosophy. They are laid in a black plastic coating with some slight twist in the cables beneath. The terminating jack to your DAP has a 135 degree angle to it which makes unplugging a breeze without too much stress on the cable itself. Lastly the attaching points on the cable to the drivers are well designed and built. They simply pop into the drivers and fit snugly. I wouldn’t worry about the drivers disconnecting unless a serious pull was given and an opposing force was put on the drivers. Your cable being caught in the door and pulling on them will not cause the driver to come loose in normal situations; your investment is safe!”

RBH EP3 In-Ear Monitors Reviewed
January 17, 2016 Comments Off on RBH EP3 In-Ear Monitors Reviewed
“The first thing to jump out at me about the EP3’s performance was the bass, which was more pronounced than that of my B&W P7 over-the-ear models. Is that good? It depends on your preference. The EP3 may serve up more bass than some audiophiles would prefer, but I found the quality of the bass to be excellent. ”

JOMO AUDIO 6 & 6R Review
January 16, 2016 Comments Off on JOMO AUDIO 6 & 6R Review
” The 6R’s relatively flatter and more neutral bass line drops off somewhat below 50hz and doesn’t display any noticeable mid-bass elevation making it more coherent and possibly the more realistic and less colored of the two bass signatures. The 6R’s bass response also has a tighter and faster response than the Jomo 6 with a shorter decay giving it a drier and thinner edge. Bass head fans will unlikely find favor with the 6R’s bass whereas those into the lighter side of things will appreciate it dropping to the background a little to give way for a stronger mid section. It sort of reminds me a little of the Noble Classic 4 tuning but not quite as bright sounding making it much more palatable for long term listening.”

Klipsch Reference X6i Review
January 11, 2016 Comments Off on Klipsch Reference X6i Review
” Orchestral tracks, like the opening scene in John Adams’ The Gospel According to the Other Mary, sound fantastic through the Reference X6i. Lower register instrumentation is given a lovely, rich presence in the mix—nothing is too boosted, but there’s a little added body that is apparent at certain moments. The bright presence of the higher register strings, brass, and vocals is neither harsh nor overly exaggerated. Just about every element of the frequency range sounds as it should, which makes these earphones a solid choice in this price range for orchestral and jazz music lovers (or anyone else) seeking an accurate mix.”
