AMBIENT ACOUSTICS AM-6 HIREZ REVIEW

” The bass seems to advance towards the sub bass, probably maxing its presence just under 100Hz and holding itself from a steep roll off well. Because of that the deep bass is dynamic and textured and shows its emphasis with it extracting any bass frequencies it can find an driving them a lingering reproduction that can be felt and heard. The bass does have a lack of speed but it certainly seems on purpose and while I think it creates an exaggerated timbre that is certainly richer and bolder than life. That feeling continues into a very baritone midrange that loves Michael Bublé and some mellow blues. It is almost seductive.”

TRINITY AUDIO ENGINEERING TECHNE REVIEW

” The inclusion of a right angle adapter is a very nice touch and something that I wish other companies would also include. The final extra you get in the Trinity Techne box is of course the small metal cylindrical tube containing the interchangeable filter tips. There are filters there so you can fine tune your listening the way you want such as enhancing the bass, displaying more treble or even to create a more neutral response. I found that with the bass tips installed they were most to my taste for how I would personally use the Techne (as a dedicated bass canon) but if you were using the Techne as your sole earphone I highly recommend the middle filter set due to its versatility. ”

ALCLAIR CURVE REVIEW

” The Curve is built out of plastic. One side is gray plastic, the other is transparent. It looks plastic, and it feels plastic. The look certainly doesn’t scream high end, but then neither does the price ($250), so no problem there. More important is that, even though it does look and feel like plastic, it looks and feels like solid plastic. It may not be a modern art masterpiece, but it is functional”

ORIOLUS 4-DRIVER HYBRIDS – Review

” Heaping blanket praise on a midrange-meaty earphone is against a trance-head’s morals. I’m about to sin big time. Oriolus spits contrasty, speedy, wide mids. They shoot straight out of Oriolus’s strong, thwacky bass, never to get mired by either bass or high mids. They rise fastest and highest just below the shininess where mids go meet the highs. There’s a bit of wet reverb that keeps female vocals fractionally hanging on. And male vocals are bite authoritatively. The entire band is wide, relatively deep, and round out an impressive 3D image.”

Noble Audio 6C $1099 Review

November 24, 2015 Comments Off on Noble Audio 6C $1099 Review

“The custom Noble 6C shells are very well designed and quite beautiful in person, pictures simply do not do them justice. The medical grade acrylic used for the shells is of very high quality and gives the 6C a lightweight feel and a glossy smooth finish. Like a fancy hand-blown glass ornament or pipe, the color work just pops right out you and looks even more impressive under the light. The psychedelic nebula-like blend of red, yellow, blue, and violet hues is tastefully done with a metallic texture that adds to the overall effect. The faceplates are seamlessly connected to the shells to form one smooth coherent piece of art. Like a Rothko or Cubist painting, the faceplates contrast the smooth flowing nature of the shells with abstract bands of pink, black, lavender, and white, adding to the energy and emotion of the design. The Wizard certainly lives up to his reputation as an artist and designer as the artwork is simply phenomenal ”

Vision Ears VE5 CIEM Earphones Review

November 21, 2015 Comments Off on Vision Ears VE5 CIEM Earphones Review

” First off, it must be mentioned that the VE5 is a special breed with an unusual signature that Vision Ears have purposefully created to fill in the gap between their model U/V-shaped models such as the VE2/VE4/VE6x1 and the more balanced models such as the VE3/VE6x2. The tonality of the VE5, therefore, is very intriguing and can be more associated to have an n-shaped frequency response where mids are central to the mix. While some people claim that this model is bright owing to its “crystal-clear” mids and treble, I have found that this model leans more towards a neutral tone despite the rather mid-centric approach.”

“Power levels are excellent. The Westone UM Pro 10 can therefore be used with all types of audio source without volume levels sounding too weak. However, there is a certain level of distortion. In fact, this rears its head even before you reach moderate volume levels. This marked presence of distortion is a real problem when using these headphones in places with a lot of background noise, even if Westone’s passive s”

KENNERTON AUDIO JIMO – K10 REVIEW

” f Kennerton were a truly world-class earphone maker with world-class cables and a penchant for proprietary prisons, I’d just give them the bird. But they’re not, and virtually all makers, from top to bottom, use cables that can easily be swapped between brands. I have this feeling that Kennerton’s factory changed halfway through”

Focal Sphear review

” Our only criticism is that the Sphears – as refined and mature sounding as they are – can sound a little polite. That rawness to Alice in Chain’s Unplugged performance isn’t fully conveyed, although you do get a real sense of the live audience.”
