CHORD & MAJOR 9’13 REVIEW

” I feel that writing anything here at all is a complete injustice to the Chords. They are simply stunning looking earphones and ooze class. Wood is such an under-utilised item in small IEM’s because in general its done very poorly by other manufacturers. Chord on the other hand have beautiful grains matched with beautiful complimentary colours on the metallic parts. The classics deep red wood is matched with a brass finish on the metal parts of the housing, its stunning. Build quality is good on the main housings and the cable is inoffensive although not great it is in keeping with the style. Another stylistic touch is the inclusion of the same wood finish on the jack and brass on the Y-splitter.”

PSB Speakers M4U 4 In-ear Monitors review

” Bass heads might want to look elsewhere, but if you’re looking for lower frequencies that are (like the treble range) in almost perfect proportion to the mid frequencies, the M4U 4s are about as good as it gets for any IEM I’ve heard in the sub $600 price range. To hear kd Lang’s version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” was as awe inspiring as I’ve heard this piece. I remember kd’s performance during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, I was hooked and I picked up Recollection they day it was released. The PSB M4U 4s do this song perfect justice. Again with this song, the M4U 4s just got out of the way and let the music flow effortlessly. – See more at: http://headphone.guru/the-psb-speakers-m4u-4-in-ear-monitors-big-sound-small-package/#sthash.hn6bVFR3.dpuf”

FOCAL SPHEAR EARPHONES REVIEW

” Away from the bass, Sphear has an extremely enjoyable tonal balance, with a distinct absence of anything hard, or harsh in the top end. Once more, the running-in process fills in a slight thinness in the midrange over the course of a day or so, and after that the overall sound becomes chocolatey rich and approachable. It’s extended, although not too extended in the top-end; this is probably a good thing, as earphones at this level can be divided into those that are too rolled off, or those that seem to have a ‘let me scream your treble detail at you’ balance at the price. ”

“Naturally, that signature changes somewhat depending on what ear pads you use. I’ve got Complys in now. Because they get icky so soon, and also because my small canals bunch them and an earphone’s sound up, I opt for ortofon tips instead. Still, even the Comply tips work well in my ears. They isolate, exert minimal influence on Jupiter’s natural sound, and they feel good.”

VISION EARS VE5 CIEM REVIEW

” All of this came packed in their rather excellent large hard carry case which I still rate as the best in the business bar none with tons of room for a soft pouch, additional cleaning tool, the quarter jack adapter, some stickers and the VE5 itself. The case looks incredibly durable with some nice print decal on the top which you can custom order in advance.”

Noble Audio Kaiser 10U in-ear headphones – Review

“The downside to extreme resolution headphones like the Kaiser 10U is they let you hear more of the harshness and crud in many of today’s highly compressed recordings. The IE800 was much better in that regard, I could listen to more music without cringing than I could with the Kaiser 10U. The best recordings sound better than ever, but the crappy ones sound worse with the Kaiser 10U! That might be a deal breaker for potential buyers who mostly listen to mainstream pop or rock, but most jazz, classical, electronica and acoustic music benefited from the Kaiser 10U extraordinary sound quality.”

“To be honest I did not really use the tip spacers, as I think the change is very subtle and not that audible in day to day scenarios. Tips rolling does make more of a difference, and I found that using the TS-500 complys gave these a little added body, and found silicone tips to be a little brighter on the whole. I am guessing it’s a mix of the foam tip and the added wax guard helps filter the high frequencies and thus the perceived added body.”
