“The Beats Studio3 Wireless headphones ($349.95) feature Pure Adaptive Noise Canceling, Bluetooth wireless functionality, and good sound quality. The Sennheiser PXC 550 ($399.95) has an incredible array of features and benefits, including excellent sound quality, adaptive noise-canceling, and a fold-up design. The Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones II ($349.95) have Google Assistant built in, as well as adjustable noise cancellation. They offer Volume Optimized EQ, which adjusts the sonic frequencies depending on how loud you are listening–sort of like the loudness button for adding bass when listening at low volumes, but I heard some changes even at higher volumes. They do not fold up, though. The Sony MDR-1000X ($248.00) has adjustable noise cancellation, but I felt that, to get the ANC to a level where the outside noise was attenuated fully, the sound quality was negatively impacted. The rest of the Sony’s features are well designed and work nicely. As a result, I had to rate the Sony ANC capabilities last in the pack, and ANC is such an important feature for mobile use.”

Beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless $449 Review

March 4, 2018 Comments Off on Beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless $449 Review

“It all comes down to price. The Aventho Wireless headphones look and feel great, and delivers a solid audio experience. The app is neat, too, though you might not notice a tremendous difference in sound quality. But we can’t quite get past the $449 price. We’ve tested plenty of headphones that cost less and deliver similar wireless audio. The Sony WH-1000XM2, JBL Everest 710, Bowers & Wilkins P5 Wireless, and B&O Beoplay H4 are all less expensive and worth your attention. We can’t say Beyerdynamic doesn’t offer a good audio experience here, but the price still seems inflated.”

HiFiMan Susvara $6,00 Review

“Another point that needs to be addressed is the paraphernalia issue. You don’t buy the Susvara and play them with a Chord Mojo. They will play and actually make nice music too but for them to properly sing you need gear with cojones the size of coconuts. Quality amplification is one thing, quality combined with quantity is another and don’t even think of playing the Sus with a single flimsy A class watt, no matter how good it is, it wont cut it. The Metaxas Memento Mori was fantastic but did not pushed them to the limit, the Air Tight was much more like it and the Viva Egoista 845 would have been great. Think Woo Audio, think Cavalli, don’t come with a knife on a bazooka fight. Trafomatic Audio has a new over the top headphone amplifier, the Primavera and I’m guessing this would be an out of this world good combo.”

FINAL AUDIO D8000 REVIEW

February 24, 2018 Comments Off on FINAL AUDIO D8000 REVIEW

‘My experience with Final Audio headphones so far has been limited to their Sonorous VI (formerly known as Pandora Hope VI). Which is a hybrid headphone that utilizes a single balanced armature driver for high notes. Although it has its own strengths I have moved away from it because of comfort issues. The BA often pushed against my ear causing discomfort, but other than that it was a great headphone.”

ZMF EIKON $1399 REVIEW

February 1, 2018 Comments Off on ZMF EIKON $1399 REVIEW

“At the end of the day, the Eikon sounds great, looks great and feels great. It performs very well and is set up for a flat EQ line, most of the time. If you like a natural tonality that isn’t overly clinical or cold at all, but also one that isn’t very warm, something with a very good coherency factor that makes vocals and the center image instrument in the track seem lifelike and very well formed, then I suggest you pick this up asap. Zach does great work”
