FOCAL ELEAR $999 REVIEW
July 1, 2017 Comments Off on FOCAL ELEAR $999 REVIEW
” My thoughts were confirmed when I brought the Elear to a local headphone meet. All loved the dynamic punch, and the bass made many friends, but the crowd was torn on some of the other aspects. Some people loved it. One guy in particular just adored the Elear, and thought it is exactly how he wanted to hear his music. His position is easy to understand. The Elear rocks. On the other hand, there were those who missed the air and sense of space that headphones can provide (having an extremely well driven HD800 near at hand didn’t help the case). That is also an easy opinion to understand. Who is right? That will be up for you to decide.”

MrSpeakers Ether Flow Headphones $1,800 Review

”
Listening to highresolution files of John McEuen’s (founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) Made in Brooklyn album on the Ether Flow and HiFiMan Edition X headphones, the Flow’s more naturally balanced midrange was immediately apparent. It sounded “right.” The vocals, acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, stand-up bass, flute, and clarinet were all vibrantly alive, while the Edition X’s sound was consistently leaner, less full and satisfying.

“My Audeze LCD X headphones’ bass plumbed deeper than either of those two headphones, and soft-to-loud dynamics kicked harder, so if you crave high-energy impact, the LCD X has the edge. Still, as I continued listening, the Ether Flow did no wrong; nothing started to grate on me, and it’s a good deal more comfortable to wear than the LCD X.

AUDEZE LCD-4 $3,995 REVIEW
June 5, 2017 Comments Off on AUDEZE LCD-4 $3,995 REVIEW
” The treble is perhaps the greatest improvement of the LCD-4 over all the other LCD series models. There is a good balance between treble, midrange, and bass that makes the LCD-4 what it is, but it is still not as clean or controlled as headphone models from other manufacturers. There can be treble distortion depending on the revision as some may be better than others, although it is not as severe as some of the LCD-2, 3, or X’s that I have heard.”

The Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless Headphones Review
June 3, 2017 Comments Off on The Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless Headphones Review
” Nerds will appreciate how easy these phones are to use. The human engineering of the P7s is fantastic – they are very intuitive. Once paired to your device, and adjusted to your head, the only thing left to address is volume level, set from the right ear cup. Volume can not be adjusted this way when the phones are used in wired operation.”

HiFiMAN HE-1000 V2 REVIEW
May 27, 2017 Comments Off on HiFiMAN HE-1000 V2 REVIEW
” With the stock cable, however, there does appear to be a tendency for an ever so slightly thinner note portrayal (which can be fixed with aftermarket cables as described below). Nonetheless, the HE-1000 V2’s midrange is neutral and linear with perceptively fast leading transients. Both male and female vocals benefit from this cleaner and more resolute signature. In “Dance Hall Days” by Imperial Mammoth, for example, the capabilities of the V2 become evident through the projection of sonic cues in the dimensions of depth and width, propensity to handle gradations in sound levels and a subjectively pleasant tonal signature.”
