” To sum up, the Audeze sound was skewed slightly more towards the bass end of the audio spectrum, and had excellent detail, but not the glorious highs of the V2s. And although the Audezes are respectable in the area of soundstaging (better than most ’phones I’ve heard), the V2s are even better—both better than I would expect to hear from headphones. The most significant difference was comfort: After wearing the V2s, it was almost unpleasant to go back to the Audezes. And the longer I wore them, the stronger that impression became. The V2s looked far better than the rather utilitarian Audezes—not that I could see them while listening, but if you’re shelling out big bucks, it’s not goofy to want a headphone with looks to match.”

” Whilst the bass performance is somewhat more substantial sounding than the old AD2000 from a few years back it still would be classified as linear and full sounding rather than impactful and colored. It is probably at its most elevated around the 100Hz marker with a gentle roll off the further down you go though by no means could you classify the sub-bass extension as lacking, just not as dominant or as heavily textured as say the LCD-2 sub-bass response.”

” I really admire the discipline and control Hifiman have engineered into the V2’s bass performance. This is a flat but very natural sounding bass response with a lovely balance in note quality between attack and decay. The quantity and quality are remarkably consistent and accurate sounding right down to around 20-30hz with nothing really in the way of a perceptible roll off or an uneven mid-bass bias.”
