Floyd Rose FR-36BK Bluetooth Headphones Review

” The bass did not have the Beats bloat, but it did seem ramped up a little. It was very impressive at the opening of Zarathustra. It had me smiling as an auditor, not so much as a conductor, where the balance was skewed a little south.”

VERISONIX N501 ELECTROSTATIC HEADPHONE REVIEW
October 5, 2016 Comments Off on VERISONIX N501 ELECTROSTATIC HEADPHONE REVIEW
” he N501 has quite the specifications list. It retails for $499 USD which makes it one of the most affordable ESL headphones on the market. To raise even more eyebrows, it also lists a frequency range of 6 Hz to 50 kHz; most headphones support 20 Hz to 22 kHz. That’s not to say all of it is within the human hearing range, but Verisonix is making it known that it can cover the entire audio spectrum. Likewise, with the doubling of the frequency range, we also get the headphone weight which is 600g or 21 ounces. This puts the N501 at almost twice the weight of typical headphones. As for the driver, Verisonix notes it as being a 4030 e-stat + 40mm hybrid dome-type dynamic driver. The N501 still manages an effective impedance of 32 ohms and a Sound Pressure Level of 120 dB making it surprisingly easy to drive.”

MrSpeakers Ether C Flow Review
September 23, 2016 Comments Off on MrSpeakers Ether C Flow Review
” Another effect of the change to the tonal balance in the Ether C Flow is that it doesn’t have the immediate sense of space or air that the Ether C v1.1 has. I sometimes like to think of audio gear as a spectrum of sounds from dry and analytical on one side (e.g. HD800) to lush and musical on the other (e.g. HD650). I think the original Ether C definitely leaned towards the analytical side of the spectrum and now it’s shifted towards the musical side.

“It’s impossible to escape headphones. New product announcements turn up in our inboxes every few days and some are even launched via crowdfunding campaigns—like Sharkk’s Bravo electrostatic headphone.
With nine days left to go, Bravo has easily exceeded its $50,000 funding goal on Indiegogo, having raised almost $182,000 since the campaign was launched in July.”

Grado GS2000e headphones Review
September 16, 2016 Comments Off on Grado GS2000e headphones Review
“Next, I pitted the GS2000e against the Hifiman HE560 headphones, and I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. The HE560’s low bass was deeper and more visceral, my ears literally felt the difference. Bob Marley’s “Lively Up Your Dub” took on a weightier presence over the HE560, returning to the GS2000e the sound was leaner, but the texture of the drums leapt out of the ear cups. With trumpeter Jon Hassell’s brilliant audiophile recording “Fascinoma,” the HE560 shrank the sound stage to a considerable degree, and Hassell’s horn sounded less alive than what I got from the GS2000e.”
