JANSZEN ZA1.1 ELECTROSTATIC HYBRID STAND-MOUNTED LOUDSPEAKER $4495 REVIEW

” The JansZens have a refinement and focus all their own, based on the purity of the electrostatic tweeter and the narrowed radiation pattern in the top end. For those with the appetite for this, there is nothing else quite like the JansZen zA1.1s. If your budget encompasses this price point, these are speakers you really should hear before you buy anything else. Old brandy may be the only drink for you.”

WILSON BENESCH A.C.T. ONE EVOLUTION REVIEW

January 17, 2016 Comments Off on WILSON BENESCH A.C.T. ONE EVOLUTION REVIEW

Read Here

” The A.C.T. One Evolution is also extraordinarily detailed from top to toe. These are great loudspeakers for musical analysis, for listening into the music and extracting both a lot of information and – more significantly – a lot of fun. Play something like Bach’s Art of Fugue [Emerson String Quartet, DG] and you need to hear both the cerebral and the visceral. This should be extremely precise and very clearly a string quartet, but it should also come with a sense of musical joy and vivacity, taking the birthplace of modern music and making it their own. Less detailed loudspeakers fail at one of these two aspects, either making the precision or the fun-factor disappear. Wilson Benesch’s A.C.T. One Evolution combines both elements of the recording with lithe elegance. Paradoxically though, what the A.C.T. One Evolution doesn’t do is pretend to be a studio monitor. If you want that stark, flat sound… look elsewhere”

Martin Logan Motion 15 Standmount Loudspeakers Review

January 15, 2016 Comments Off on Martin Logan Motion 15 Standmount Loudspeakers Review

READ HERE

” The Motion 15s are a small standmounts and therefore will not produce all the bass of a larger speaker, although my room by its very nature gives a tighter bass response I found the MLs to produce a nice rich bass note – the amount of bass they produce and the way they extend was admirable. Yes the crispness of the snare wasn’t as apparent as say the ATC SCM7s or 11s, but the bass weight, detail and flow of the smoother response was more pleasing to my ears with acoustical music and vocals.

Harbeth 40.2 speakers Review

” Listening to Miles Davis playing trumpet, I’m noticing more of the way he plays his horn, his breath, his dynamics and the way he holds onto some notes. With the 40.2 speakers, I’m hearing a lot deeper into Davis’ music. There was more soul-stirring life to the sound of his music, that’s what really grabbed me”

ELAC DEBUT F5 $559/pr. REVIEW

January 11, 2016 Comments Off on ELAC DEBUT F5 $559/pr. REVIEW

READ HERE

” Let’s get a couple nitpicks out of the way. Neither the B5 nor the F5 is a flawless loudspeaker—although it could be effectively argued that they’re as faultless as a speaker is likely to get at these prices. Nonetheless, the tweeter remains a bit on the dry side, and the upper harmonic range could be more extended and open. Along those same lines, the F5 doesn’t always disappear as a source and there are intimations of tweeter localization.”
