YG Acoustics Carmel 2 Loudspeaker Review

The 5th and final trademarked technology is FocusedElimination, which refers to the reduction of the internal friction which prevents the drivers from working in a purely linear fashion. In a high friction (or lossy) enclosure, you get a slow boxy sound. On the other hand, low losses lead to a tight punchy bass and quick reactions. Losses are reduced here by eliminating internal standing waves, achieved by the special geometry of the interior walls and the use of anti-resonance technology applied to specific pinpoint locations within the cabinet, rather than the traditional approach of employing considerable amounts of cabinet stuffing and panel damping.

The Sabrina is Wilson Audio’s least expensive floor stander, running $15,900 per pair in the US and £14,999 in the UK. That’s still expensive, but if you can afford a pair it might be the last high-end speaker you’ll buy. It’s that good!
TANNOY REVOLUTION XT 8F LOUDSPEAKER

The Tannoy Revolution XT 8F was Robert Harley’s top discovery at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. His first impression was as follows: “After listening to it and looking at the real wood enclosure, I guessed the price at $7000 to $10,000. The Revolution XT’s price was then revealed to be just $2600 per pair.” After living with the 8F happily for several months, I was ready to declare it a sensational entry-level loudspeaker.
Wilson Benesch Square One Series 2 loudspeaker

The Square Ones were the perfect match for this music. Their soundstaging abilities made the studio’s sound larger and freer, while the music’s bass demands didn’t outrun the speakers’ bass capabilities. The clarity of the sound of Flanagan’s piano was exemplary. While the Square One didn’t sound “analytical,” it also didn’t sound like a traditional British BBC-heritage loudspeaker, by which I mean a tailored frequency response with midrange warmth on almost all recordings.
Concrete Audio N1- Review
September 11, 2015 Comments Off on Concrete Audio N1- Review
“ndeed, low loss is very much the order of the day when it comes to the N1. The concrete enclosure is massively stiff and rigid, yet enjoys excellent self-damping — helped by a firmly attached, heavy felt lining. The careful shaping of the internal volume eliminates the need for extensive lossy internal damping materials, with just a very loose filling of natural wool, while the 6dB slopes used in the crossover allow for a simple circuit using the fewest subtractive elements. Bolt your lightweight drivers firmly to such a solid foundation and you can expect the best possible energy transfer.”
DYNAUDIO FOCUS 600 XD ACTIVE WIRELESS DIGITAL LOUDSPEAKER

The top end was open and extended, with a good balance between resolution and smoothness. On hi-res sources, the 600 XD sounded “big” in the treble—that is, the presentation was the antithesis of closed-down or confined. Coupled with the excellent soundstaging, the 600 XD produced an expansive sense of space and dimensionality.

” When I was done evaluating the speakers in my media room, I took the opportunity to also evaluate them in my family room. My purpose was twofold. First, I was curious what differences I’d hear in this open-space environment with limited speaker-placement options, and I was curious to compare them to my trusty 15-year-old Monitor Audio speakers. ”

ENIGMACOUSTICS MYTHOLOGY M1 STANDMOUNT LOUDSPEAKER £14,690 REVIEW
September 4, 2015 Comments Off on ENIGMACOUSTICS MYTHOLOGY M1 STANDMOUNT LOUDSPEAKER £14,690 REVIEW
” If there is a criticism of the Mythology M1 it’s that this subtlety may be lost on many people, although that feels like criticising an honest design for being too honest. Nevertheless, we have become so used to loudspeakers that try to impress that when we encounter one that doesn’t, we don’t question ourselves – we question the loudspeaker.”
