“The massive, 15-inch, rear-mounted, bass woofer supplies sub-60 Hz bass, down to almost 20 Hz (23 Hz, -3 dB). This custom-design, bass driver contains an extended throw assembly, with an efficiently vented, triple-shorting ring motor and quad-layer coil, to eliminate compression and distortion. The woofer also utilizes a rigid, extra-thick, anodized, aluminum-cone design, mounted in a stable cast basket.”

SONUS FABER OLYMPICA II REVIEW

http://goo.gl/qJj2mE Read Here

“This exemplifies the concept of the whole being better than the sum of the parts, and these are very, very good parts! Best of all, they are parts that sound good while not placing a great demand on the partnering electronics; it’s a comfortable 88dB sensitive, four ohm load, and one that doesn’t have too many scary phase angles and low impedance swings to punish the weak. You could happily put the Olympica II with a decent valve power amp of perhaps 60W or so and make a lovely sound.

” Shortly after he received the Soul Supremes Robert switched back to the Fluance towers, and he thought they “sounded like a car stereo going by, there was no bass or treble, it was really soggy.” The Soul Supremes’ clarity was the difference”

YG ACOUSTICS CARMEL 2 LOUDSPEAKER $24,300

January 1, 2015 Comments Off on YG ACOUSTICS CARMEL 2 LOUDSPEAKER $24,300

http://goo.gl/4FOMLt Read Here

” he sonic results are impressive. From the midbass on up, the $24,300 Carmel 2 sounds more similar to the $42,800 Hailey 1.2, in terms of overall resolution, than it does to the Carmel 1. Yes, the much larger, 3-way Hailey is a better performing speaker on the whole—as well it should be (it’s dynamically more robust, has greater weight and bass extension, and comes across as more complete from top to bottom), but the Carmel 2’s reproduction of detail, dynamic coherence, and soundstage openness—within the two speakers’ overlapping frequency range—come closer to the Hailey’s performance than I expected. The new YG drivers and crossover really do make a substantial difference. The sonic “family resemblance” between the two models is now more apparent.”

Vox Olympian/Vox Elysian Speaker System Review $720,000

December 31, 2014 Comments Off on Vox Olympian/Vox Elysian Speaker System Review $720,000

http://goo.gl/COaNvX Read Here

“As I’ve already suggested, the musical strength and coherence that enable the Living Voice speakers to transcend the limitations of piano recordings that we’ve all come to accept and spark small-ensemble classical pieces to vivid life and invest larger-scale works with a convincing power and emotional scope translate to every other form of music I played. Listening sessions became long, meandering trawls through the music collection and the discs, both analog and digital, that visitors had brought, each piece suggesting and leading almost inevitably to another”

Kharma dB9-S Loudspeakers $36,000 Review

December 30, 2014 Comments Off on Kharma dB9-S Loudspeakers $36,000 Review

http://goo.gl/XXVKci Read Here

“I love listening to symphonies and a true full range loudspeaker must be able to reproduce symphonies with grace, power and finesse. A symphony is not an easy task for any loudspeaker to render properly. It’s very complex, yet at the same time very delicate, requiring lot from a loudspeaker and the ancillary equipment”
