To that end, the organization is soliciting donations to assist in that endeavor — and you can find out more about how to help out by going here. According to an official ARC statement, initial donations will “provide the first step in constructing a new facility that will allow students, educators, historians, musicians, authors, [and] journalists as well as fans and general public access to the world’s rich musical heritage.” Furthermore, ARC adds, “donations for a new building are not only essential in supporting the archives and collections themselves, but will help the expansion of educational programming, community gatherings, listening events and more towards ARC’s ultimate goal of transitioning from an archive to a thriving, living public institution with the creation of The Center for Popular Music in New York.”

ARC also confirms that it has already received a generous, albeit anonymous, donation of $1M that will help move this extensive collection out of its current Hudson Valley space — but every little bit helps.

If the AP audience would like to hear more specifics about all the great LPs and other related collections and historical materials housed in the abundant ARChive directly from co-founder B. George, and why it should be properly preserved in perpetuity, we will endeavor to set up an exclusive interview with him in the not-so-distant future.

PS Audio PowerPlant 15 Review

December 2, 2023 Comments Off on PS Audio PowerPlant 15 Review

Years later, TV manufacturers would incorporate automatic degauss coils in TV’s surrounding the CRT, thus negating the need for a TV installer, and allowing TV’s to be moved at will. Turn on a CRT TV or computer monitor and you’ll hear the distinctive high-pitched ‘whine’ for a few seconds while the TV powers on. That’s the built-in degauss coil at work. High-end CRT computer monitors even had a dedicated degauss button that would provide a degauss cycle without needing to power cycle the monitor. Ah, the good old days.

Ok, what does that have to do with audio? Plenty. Any metal item picks up transient magnetic fields when exposed to other magnetic fields. We’ve all rubbed a magnet against a paper clip and then used that newly magnetized paper clip to pick up other paper clips. Same thing happens in cables (except for the paper clip part…). The PowerPlant has a feature that is designed to remove transient magnetic fields from connected cables and power supplies via the CleanWave function. It’s a simple process that can be activated by a single press of a button on the remote. When activated, the PowerPlant will add a series very high frequencies to the main sine wave and will act as a degauss tool. The process runs for a few seconds and can be extended for longer intervals if desired.

CLARUS AQUA MARK II CABLES AND CONCERTO/DUET POWER CONDITIONER $2,520 REVIEW

November 19, 2023 Comments Off on CLARUS AQUA MARK II CABLES AND CONCERTO/DUET POWER CONDITIONER $2,520 REVIEW

I started this review process with the promise that it would be a thorough shakedown of this $20,000 package as a whole. Joe Perfito was confident enough that his entire response when I told him this would be reported on honestly, good or bad, he responded with ‘fair enough.’

Let us end this review with that honest assessment. I personally have enjoyed how much improvement my (let’s use rough numbers) $45,000 system has gained with the $20,000 Clarus/Concerto package. I do not believe that this system could have improved as much in performance by spending the entire $65,000 on the primary audio components and using the standard cables and power straight from the wall. It was not a surprise that the Clarus/Concerto package performed well. What was a surprise was coming away from this four-month experience with the revelation that this would be a tremendous way to improve one’s system without having to go through the process of replacing one’s components. In other words, to me, this $20,000 is a bargain.

Where Am I?
