The PQ-303’s Linear Noise-Dissipation comprises Differential-Mode filtering (30kHz–1GHz), which addresses asymmetrical noise already present on the utility line or backwashed via electronic appliances and components. The PQ-505 adds Common-Mode filtering (30kHz–100MHz) to address symmetrical noise, which is typically picked up by the AC Line, Neutral, and Ground leads. In the PQ-707, Noise Dissipation is taken even further with a wider-bandwidth (8kHz to 1GHz) Differential-Mode filter.

The PQ-707 also includes Transient Power Correction (TPC). In the PQ-707, TPC provides a current reservoir of up to 45 amps peak on-demand power for any amplifier (up to 25mS), supplying the low-impedance current the amp needs to produce thrilling dynamic contrasts, bass extension, and control.

I’ll admit to a bit of skepticism when I was approached with this product, but the Swiss Digital FUSE BOX delivered on its promises and then some. I’ve always said that in an amplifier, power supply is everything, this was clear going all the way back to early Hi-Fi when we would build huge outboard power supplies as performance mods. With modern audio products trying to run more efficiently it only makes sense that the limiting factor is the amount of power going into the power supply, and as noted above the weakest link in the power chain is the fuse. While your amplifier has the highest current demands, I suspect any product that has an amplifier circuit such as DACs, Streamers, Tuners, Phono Stages, and Preamps will see similar improvements.

The first graph shows the resulting noise level coming from the amp and speakers using a standard generic power cable that was supplied with the KECES amp. No content is being provided to the amp. This is simply the noise floor of the amplifier, measured just in front of the speaker. The second graph is the exact same setup, except the power cables have been replaced with RSX Beyond Power Cables running through the RSX Power8/Beyond™ AC Cables.

Every fluid and vacuum RCM we’ve tried always leaves a tiny bit of residue, even after a second distilled water wash only. It’s not the end of the world as we know it, but if you have a highly resolving system, you might hear a slight bit of swishing noise, almost like a faint hiss from a tape deck with a lot of wow and flutter. The ultrasonic method has none of this.

Even with a brand new record, (which we always suggest you clean anyway) the level of surface noise eliminated by the Degritter is almost like putting a better grade of tubes in your phono preamplifier. That kind of thing.

If you add a Degritter to your vinyl setup, you will never have to reminisce about those “clicks and pops” again. And that’s a wonderful thing. PS: The Degritter was one of our two Product of the Year winners in the accessories category. Highly recommended.

VPI’s Goldy cartridge illustrates the potential subjective impact of what are, on the face of it, simple mechanical revisions. Naturally, Audio-Technica’s ‘donor chassis’ is already in the top drawer, but VPI’s tweaks have resulted in something of a giant-killer. The Goldy retains the tracking prowess and medium output of the AT-OC9 but adds a silkiness and refinement all its own. If you own a VPI deck, it’s a slam dunk.
