Audionet AMP and PRE1 G3 preamplifier Review

” Listening to the second movement is even more intimate and emotional for me. Perahia starts off the second movement Largo superbly, making me feel as if time has stopped and as if I had been transported into a different world. This is Beethoven. The Audionet is not just about power and smart design. It also has finesse. Tons of it. This combo was able to get me so involved with the music that I forgot I was in the middle of reviewing this stuff. Can’t give a higher compliment than that.”

Chord Electronics DAVE Review
April 4, 2016 Comments Off on Chord Electronics DAVE Review
” The thing is that with all these cans DAVE offered a not so rich sound, lacking some mass. Bass was fast, clean but it lacked energy which suppressed dynamics a bit. If you don’t have an external high quality headphone amp I would suggest pairing DAVE with Ultrasone PRO line can, or some others offering similar sonic signature, rich with bass. If you expect a comparable sound quality from headphones that you can get with DAVE from loudspeakers, you will have to invest in a separate, top quality headphone amplifier.”

Marantz M-CR611 Network CD Receiver Review
February 28, 2016 Comments Off on Marantz M-CR611 Network CD Receiver Review
“After being very satisfied with the performance of the M-CR611 via wired Ethernet, I switched over to WiFi for the second half of the review. Hard pressed to hear any difference in sound quality, the only thing I noticed some large, high-resolution files, mostly 192 kHz, stuttered. This was during times of particularly heavy network traffic, and only happened a few times, but it should be mentioned. There were no issues with CD quality streaming. Other than that I found the WiFi connection to be robust and reliable.”
Simaudio Evolution 850P Preamplifier Review
February 8, 2016 Comments Off on Simaudio Evolution 850P Preamplifier Review
‘ Its soundstaging prowess was not the only prominent sonic characteristic of the 850P revealed by listening to this album. “Sancta Maria” is ethereal — it washes over you like a wave, due in large part to its ample high-frequency content. The highs present in the vocals were delicately reproduced by the Simaudio but were always present, distinctly layered within the vast soundfield. A shallower soundstage, or one that appears only between the speakers, would not faithfully re-create this music. Just as important, a sound that lacked the last iota of high-frequency detail would rob Dark Sky Island of much of its magic. The 850P’s sound was big and spacious, and its reproduction of the treble was perfectly balanced.”

Naim Audio Statement NAC S1 Preamplifier and NAP S1 Mono Amplifiers NAC S1 $88,000 NAP S1 $76,000 each Review

” So, incredibly agile, responsive and rhythmically articulate, musically fluid and temporally explicit, what is it that the big Naims don’t do? Their solid-state nature is betrayed in the balance they strike between images and the acoustic as a whole, the dimensionality and the depth of the soundstage. Instrumental spread is excellent, as is layering and height, which creates exceptionally natural perspectives, but there are electronics (especially tube electronics) that deliver a greater sense of the overall acoustic space, more depth, more dimensionality and, partly as a result, more intimacy and immediacy. As remarkable as the bass generated from the Sasha 2s was,”

CONSTELLATION AUDIO INSPIRATION PREAMP 1.0 LINE PREAMP AND MONO 1.0 POWER AMPLIFIER REVIEW
January 29, 2016 Comments Off on CONSTELLATION AUDIO INSPIRATION PREAMP 1.0 LINE PREAMP AND MONO 1.0 POWER AMPLIFIER REVIEW
” There’s an obvious question hanging over the Inspiration range… why pay more? Staying just with the Constellation Audio line-up thanks to that consistency, why would you pay about three times as much for a Performance model or eight times as much for a Reference model? On the surface, it’s a tough question to answer”
