Vitus Audio RI-101 MK2 Integrated Amplifier Review

July 8, 2024 Comments Off on Vitus Audio RI-101 MK2 Integrated Amplifier Review

Everything under the hood of the RI-101 MK2 is based on an intensive research and development project that spanned several years and represents a world of its own when it comes to music reproduction. From the very beginning, Hans Ole Vitus had a clear vision of how Vitus Audio products should sound and look, and over the years many have tried (unsuccessfully) to imitate both the look and the sound. The exceptional know-how continues with each new generation of electronics, and this is reflected in sonic accuracy as well as the golden trinity of timbre, tone, and color.

The brand is positively obsessed with the sound of its propriety modules, which are the cornerstone of all Vitus products and which make them intrinsically and brilliantly different. They have the same extreme fanatical attention to testing and stress-testing their equipment before it leaves the factory. To this end, they have developed a series of tests to ensure the longevity of the products. Of course, this can not change the nastiness that some shipping services are so well known for, but they do their best to ensure that the product is technically perfect and packed properly before it is delivered.

HIBY X FAUDIO PROJECT ACE REVIEW

July 7, 2024 Comments Off on HIBY X FAUDIO PROJECT ACE REVIEW

The new Project Ace from HiBy, unfortunately, doesn’t have an ideal shape for ears in my opinion. The angular design and the positioning of the shells feel off when you insert them. HiBy provides a good set of tips, and I found foam tips to be the best fit for me. The silicone tips didn’t work well, as I couldn’t get a flush fit or proper seal. So, overall, the fit experience with Project Ace is problematic, at least in my experience.
Isolation varies with the tips you use. I found that foam and hybrid tips (aftermarket) offer the best isolation. There’s a vent for the dynamic driver, but it doesn’t affect the isolation much, especially with foams.

PS Audio AirLens Music Streamer Review

In my experience with PS Audio components, what sets them apart is the care, quality, and superb sound performance, so I wasn’t surprised that this small but beautiful design was their newest creation. I can almost hear the response to this review: It doesn’t have a DAC, and what do you mean it has no screen? Are you saying it doesn’t have Bluetooth? Yes. It is USD 1999 for a DAC-less, Bluetooth-less, Screen-less streamer, but I tell you this, the clean and immersive sound you’ll get, the way you’ll experience streaming with this great audio component is well worth it.

Meze Audio Liric II Headphones Review

July 6, 2024 Comments Off on Meze Audio Liric II Headphones Review

The emphasis in the low end is in the mid bass region with a focus around 150Hz and a decline on either side of that peak. That emphasis combined with the elevated treble creates a moderately V-shaped tuning that is a bit different than the original.

The mid bass emphasis also helps add a bit of warmth and weight giving the Liric II more body than the original. Mid bass textures are good with plenty of detail and more than enough speed; the Liric II sounds clearer and more impactful overall in this area.

IFI ZEN DAC 3 REVIEW

Alongside the DAC, in a separate white box, you’ll find a set of accessories. These include a USB-C to USB-A cable, a high-quality 6.35mm to 3.5mm gold-plated adapter, and iFi brand RCA cables, all of which add to the value you’re getting. I especially like that they included the RCA cables, which are good for those who already have a headphone amplifier. For those with active monitors, no luck, as the cable length must be longer for active speakers. A quick start guide, iFi stickers, and the brand’s signature smiley mascot are also included to add a retro touch. The included accessory kit lets users enjoy their DAC/AMP immediately.

THIEAUDIO HYPE 4 $399 REVIEW

July 4, 2024 Comments Off on THIEAUDIO HYPE 4 $399 REVIEW

For the rest of the sound spectrum, the Hype 4 employs six balanced armature drivers from Danish manufacturer Sonion, divided equally among super high, mid+high, and low frequencies through a 3-way crossover. The dual ultra-tweeter Sonion E50 series drivers deliver superb treble extension with minimal harmonic distortion, while the updated 26A series drivers enhance the mids with excellent tonal balance and high audio resolution. Although there is no information about the BAs handling the bass, they seem to be the 28UAP series that was used in the Hype 10.

This setup ensures that the Impact² technology exclusively handles the lows, providing a precise isobaric sub-bass response without impacting the mids. The combination of these drivers results in an impressive sound quality that we’ll explore in detail throughout this review.
