VISION EARS VE10 REVIEW

January 1, 2024 Comments Off on VISION EARS VE10 REVIEW

The design of the shells contributes significantly to this level of comfort. Despite housing a complex 10-driver hybrid setup, Vision Ears has achieved a remarkable feat in engineering by ensuring a compact and snug fit that remains comfortable. The seamless integration of the 10-driver hybrid design into such a compact shell proves Vision Ears’ expertise in ergonomics.

For those who might not find SpinFit as their ideal choice, Vision Ears offers an alternative; the AZLA SednaEarfit SE1500. Crafted from 100% medical-grade silicone, these prioritize comfort and aim to reduce skin irritation. They not only deliver a supremely comfortable experience but also enhance isolation compared to SpinFit, catering to different preferences and needs.

Métronome Technologie Launches Their World-Class Kalista Mantax DAC $64,000

January 1, 2024 Comments Off on Métronome Technologie Launches Their World-Class Kalista Mantax DAC $64,000

As I would learn in conversations after the keynote address, the Mantax had been cycled through a good number of the possible filter and playback combinations during the two hours of playback, which may in part explain why I’d had such difficulty in pinning down any specific attribute or signature sonic characteristic of its playback envelope. What I can say is that the Mantax had turned in a stunning first act!

This launch event was an overwhelming success, one that was not only a stirring achievement, but one that has deeply aroused my further interest. The Mantax, as heard with this array of extraordinary associated gear, had proven itself to be an exceptional performer, one that clearly provides a uniquely authentic and engaging voice to digital sources. I cannot express strongly enough my appreciation to Jean Marie Clauzel, and his entire team, for having been allowed to attend and to share this experience with my audience.

Cadence Arca Review

After using the Arca in both my listening rooms, I concluded that it was better suited to the larger, better-damped area. Bass output from the speaker was full, very well extended and apparently with a classically flat response. I detected little or no sign that it had been tailored for room-matched alignment.

It quickly became apparent that the Arca displayed more character than usually encountered these days, its rich, sweet sound, overall balance and the way it voiced the listening room being reminiscent of an old 1957 Quad ESL with extra bass extension and power. Rock music played through the Arca will sound too saccharine for some tastes, though its delicate upper range helps to control the effect of distortion and roughness in poorer quality material. Conversely, many speakers do not have the clean, deep bass – of virtually subwoofer quality – which this Cadence design can provide.

UNIQUE MELODY U-FREE REVIEW

December 30, 2023 Comments Off on UNIQUE MELODY U-FREE REVIEW

In terms of signal latency, my Snapdragon 8 Gen1+ phone running Android 14 showed some latency within the YouTube app. However, activating the gaming mode available through the app reduced this latency to a more manageable level. Despite this improvement, I would not recommend these earphones for gaming due to the lag. On iOS devices, which are limited to the AAC codec, latency is slightly lower, resulting in better audio-visual synchronization within apps such as YouTube and offering a slight advantage over Android devices using AptX Adaptive with the Gaming mode enabled. However, I can’t recommend it for iOS gaming, either.

Neat Acoustics Orkestra Review

This is more than just a ‘big Ekstra’. The Orkestra takes everything that the slimmer floorstander does so effectively and adds a level of scale and effortlessness that ensures it will tackle pretty much anything you care to throw at it with assurance and genuine talent. You can buy prettier speakers for the asking price and they will need to be driven rather than powered, but so long as you can meet these two requirements you have a speaker that is capable of truly extraordinary performance that is hard to rival at the money. Neat’s evolutionary journey continues to deliver the goods and it’s fascinating to see where it takes us next.

Mission 778X$549 Review

It should be clear by now that the 778X is a fine all-rounder. It even sounds good through the headphone output and that isn’t always the case with amplifiers at this level. This Mission is up against some tough competition, and maybe its slightly understated sonic manner won’t draw the attention as strongly as its rivals, but make no mistake, this is a well-rounded product that deserves plenty of success. Retro appeal or not, the Mission 778X convinces.

MYTEK LIBERTY THX AAA HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER $1,495 REVIEW

December 28, 2023 Comments Off on MYTEK LIBERTY THX AAA HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER $1,495 REVIEW

The Mytek Liberty THX AAA is a very good headphone amp. It’s one of the most transparent, character-free pieces of analog electronics I’ve ever heard. It has stunning specifications. Even with my relatively easy-to-drive headphones, it added quite a lot to what I heard. Or didn’t hear more specifically. Some people like audio equipment with “character”. If you’re one of those people, the Mytek Liberty THX AAA isn’t for you. But if you want “a straight wire with gain”, and especially if you have hard-to-drive headphones, this amp is definitely for you.

Canton Vento 100 Loudspeaker REVIEW

December 28, 2023 Comments Off on Canton Vento 100 Loudspeaker REVIEW

https://www.hifinews.com/content/canton-vento-100-loudspeaker

In terms of fit and finish the speaker ticks all the boxes, including high-quality bi-wire enabled terminals around the back. The Vento 100 is raised over a broader plinth that lets the speaker ‘float’ above the floor and allows its down-facing bass port to vent uniformly out from the base of the cabinet. Spikes can be added and, of course, the Vento 100 doesn’t mind standing a bit closer to the wall compared to rear-firing bass reflex boxes.

The ‘100 is the biggest of eight passive Vento models, alongside the Vento 90 and Vento 80 floorstanders, Vento 30 and Vento 20 standmount/bookshelf speakers, and centre channel, surround and on-wall options for multichannel systems. The range extends further, though: Canton has been a proponent of active designs for decades, offering so-called ‘Smart’ versions of many of its loudspeakers, and that’s the case here. Not of the Vento 100, but there is the wireless, active Vento 9 S2, related to the Vento 90, with claimed built-in amplification of 600W and support for 96kHz/24-bit playback.

Where Am I?
