” The low of of the 1RNC is moderately potent with good firmness factor, but it isn’t nearly as interesting as its little brother’s bass ( the 950BT ). It is a nice, neutral ground experience that can thump hard, as well as be polite when the track calls for it. What bugs me is the neutral tone, I prefer a slower, more weighted bass than the harder, firm and fast hitting sound the 1R series offers. Testing with the TEB Bassgasm Bass Test proves the headphone can hit harder and deeper than most, but it doesn’t respond well to EQ boosting and remains generally the same from +1dB to +5dB.”

Gryphon Audio Designs • Atilla Integrated Amplifier and Scorpio CD Player Review

” That’s why most upper-end products come with some carved-from-solid brick, generally littered with tiny identical buttons and so heavy it risks damaging whatever you put it down on. To me, that’s just dumb, but hey, somewhere along the line, weight and quality seem to have become equated. These things are crazy expensive to make and just like fancy Swiss watches, you can buy a plastic alternative that actually works just as well.”

YG ACOUSTICS HAILEY 1.2 LOUDSPEAKER $42,800 Review

” Another critical point about setup: A speaker this good and precise requires very careful setup to get the best trade-off in frequency response, soundstaging, and detail. Getting the best out of the Hailey means experimenting with placement and the finer details of toe-in and tilt. A really good dealer is going to spend at least an hour or two getting the floor position, speaker tilt and height, and fine-tuning of the listening position right. I suspect, however, that most serious audiophiles are going to spend several more weeks refining final adjustments to their taste.”

OCHARAKU DONGURI-KEYAKI – REVIEW

” Which is to say: if you like bright treble (not to mention mids that kowtow to it), and a good, compact, anchoring bass, Donguri probably will grease your pole. But if you don’t go in for that stuff, it certainly won’t. Even if you’re like me, and do, you may have trouble with American hip hop, which really needs a lazier upper end, and if possible, a bit less detail and a bit more fluffy pressure in the low end.”

Fluance XL7F Floor Standing Loudspeaker $500 Review

” One of the reasons for going with a set of floor standing speakers with larger woofers is to fill a medium to large room. If you’re worried about whether or not these Fluance speakers can saturate a large space with sound, don’t be. I played them in a 24 x 30 foot room. I pumped up the volume and these guys cranked it out. I will say that at very high, painful SPLs the XL7Fs showed some chinks in their armor. As the volume got louder , they didn’t stay completely clean. For this price-point that’s really not a surprise. ”

Cocktail Audio X40 Music Server $2695 Review

“Throughout the album, the solos were handed off fluidly. The X40 exuded clarity, detail, and precision, all while maintaining a tone that was neither too bright nor too warm. This was particularly evident with clarinetist Allen Vanche’s stratosphere-scraping solos and the well-controlled patterns of Bernard Purdie’s tom-toms. Throughout, this recording was rendered in an engaging manner; the advantages of hi-rez recordings were unmistakable.”

Luxman’s C-900u preamplifier – Review

” The M-900u’s power output was more than sufficient for Doug’s system, and probably for most listeners’. But in those rare instances where an M-900u won’t be powerful enough — say, with very inefficient speakers that are also able to play extremely loud, and need hundreds of watts to do so — a pair of them can be configured as monoblocks claimed to each deliver 600W into 8 ohms.”

BRAINWAVZ M2 In-Ear Monitors – Review

May 23, 2015 Comments Off on BRAINWAVZ M2 In-Ear Monitors – Review

http://goo.gl/CH9MLy Read Here

” There is something wonderful about the sound of good in-ear monitors, especially those with high performance single drivers in each ear. With no crossover to direct the incoming signal to a separate woofer and a tweeter, a very natural continuity – and freedom from the harmful phase shifts of typical crossovers – is heard that makes the distinction between bass, midrange, and treble almost meaningless. Separating music into these frequency ranges is good for discussion, but the M2s present a seamless listening experience and music flows naturally up and down the entire musical scale. The midrange is very natural and fully formed.”

” Changing the mood again with rapper-producer Earl Sweatshirt’s new album “I Don’t Like S%#*, I Don’t Go Outside” the buoyancy of the bass floored me. Deep bass extension was the sort you feel as much as hear.”
