“I tested a dozen sensitive dynamic and balanced-armature earphones with it, and not a one got it to budge by more than 2dB of stereo separation. By comparison, the best portable amp you can get will lose at least 6 when slaved to the Earsonics SM2 or similar high-current low-impedance earphone.

” You will probably feel like using it in a number of different ways as this new product did a great job of representing itself wherever it was placed and, at five pounds, was easy to pick up and move around. Even if you do not want to use the Zdac v.2 as a DAC because you like your digital player the way it is, consider using it just for its headphone amplifier and computer capabilities. ”

“This exemplifies the concept of the whole being better than the sum of the parts, and these are very, very good parts! Best of all, they are parts that sound good while not placing a great demand on the partnering electronics; it’s a comfortable 88dB sensitive, four ohm load, and one that doesn’t have too many scary phase angles and low impedance swings to punish the weak. You could happily put the Olympica II with a decent valve power amp of perhaps 60W or so and make a lovely sound.

“Okay, I’m exaggerating a little. But they do start to vibrate along with the bass. In addition, the bass sounds boosted. Now, I don’t know what concerts you’ve been going to, but my definition of “live concert like experience” is not headphones that vibrate on your head. Maybe I’m going to the wrong concerts, but I don’t think so.”

” Lets start at the jack its custom machined metal and attached to the excellent slightly extended cable with a strain relief that is unlike any other. Its like on of those spring door stops wrapped around the cable and doesn’t just stop the cable from bending at strange angles it also jumps back to its optimal position as soon as pressure is relieved the jack could have been left as smooth metal and I would have been perfectly happy but once again the extra thought is put into function and the design team have added knurling give additional grip”

“We admire the control and energy of the Micromega MyAmp. The sheer driving force will entertain many listeners, and it doesn’t discriminate when it comes to low-resolution Spotify streams, either.”

” Shortly after he received the Soul Supremes Robert switched back to the Fluance towers, and he thought they “sounded like a car stereo going by, there was no bass or treble, it was really soggy.” The Soul Supremes’ clarity was the difference”

” There is quite a bit of low-level noise which contributes significantly to the measured number (THD+N). I cannot measure only THD on the Audio Precision, but I would estimate that the distortion component is about 0.008%.”
