“I find the AK240 to really start trickling into the multi stack portable DAC/Amp component space. Except for maybe the HM-901, I find comparing the AK240 to other DAPs to be an easy challenge and it has been more intriguing to compare it with the separate portable DAC/Amp products instead. Although there are some high end portable DAC/Amps that still have an edge over the AK240, the AK240 still puts up a good fight.”

“Once paired, ANY audio from my Apple laptop could be sent without wires, over AAC to the Arcam device. That meant a diet of YouTube videos,”

“It’s really difficult to make significant statements about these two excellently designed cables. But compare, we must! As I mentioned, the Jorma is the more flexible of the two”
Pathos logos Amp Review

“Already dac’d out? Subtract €700. That’s no chicken feed but surely no audiophile trophy pricing either. By now you’ll have figured out why I accepted Enrico’s solicitation. This was a 10-year proven circuit refined for the 21st century. It combined vacuum and solid state. It looked swell. It had bandwidth. It had low-impedance power.”

“Of course, reality isn’t quite that simple, and the equation that can include quotients for price and passion simply doesn’t exist. Anybody paying these prices for audio equipment has already committed well beyond the point of cool, considered logic”

“The Flat-4 Nami is a dual-dynamic earphone built for Olasonic by Japanese Hi-Fi house Ocharaku. The twin 10mm drivers of the Flat-4 are oriented back-to-back, with a “sound pipe” connecting the chamber in front of the rear driver to the primary sound tube just before the nozzle”
HAD Audiolab Maestral II Headphone Amp Review
April 18, 2014 Comments Off on HAD Audiolab Maestral II Headphone Amp Review
“Maestral II tonality and musicality play a major role into the middle section realism, with that kind of analog and very fluid sound, showing all the harmonics with an extreme facility, appreciating the sound as a whole, with no emphasize of any frequency over another, since all the transients contribute to the softness and linearity in the sound”
Tube Amp BL-2portable amp Review
April 18, 2014 Comments Off on Tube Amp BL-2portable amp Review
“BL-2 does sound just a tad richer in tone, but it isn’t an obvious warmness or forwardness. It just sounds like all the background detail is pulled slightly to the front, filling out the ‘space’ between instruments and vocal”
