Gold Note Valore Plus 425 Turntable and PH-7 Phono Stage Review

“To more precisely dial-in the load of specific cartridges, Gold Note also offers optional male RCA-style loading plugs which can be plugged into a pair of female RCA input sockets located on the back of the unit. I like that Gold Note has engineered a simple solution to handle any potential issues with capacitance and/or gain for exotic cartridges. There’s no need to crack the PH-7’s case open and make internal settings as with other phono stages.”

Rega RP10 Turntable Review
September 10, 2016 Comments Off on Rega RP10 Turntable Review
” My test LP for bass is the Classic Records reissue of Jean Martinon/LSO playing Shostakovich Symphony No. 1. Sure, the recorded bass and the orchestra’s bass section are superb on this LP, but it’s London Transport’s rolling stock under Kingsway Hall (between Aldwych and Holborn tube stations) that appears every couple of minutes that’s what so impressive. Only the best ‘tables/arms show the rumbling clearly. Clear, here. ”

Jean Nantais Reference Lenco MKII turntable Review
September 9, 2016 Comments Off on Jean Nantais Reference Lenco MKII turntable Review
“The first one I would lay down is musicality. You can instantly hear the music being enriched with the lively attributes via Jean Lenco. Compared with many of the new wavers the difference is not subtle and even untrained ear can spot it. Musical flow resolves in a much more unaltered rendition of original material moving closer to the mighty power of the analog tape machines. Iron, solid steel, aluminum etc. being used on many of the present turntables are adding the unmistakable ring effect and dullness to the sound. These are the design choices, that led to precognition. With vinyl reproduction everything and anything matters. Vinyl rig chain represent the most fragile system chain and its prone to every miniature changes. It’s fully perplexed science in action.

Music Hall Audio MMF-7.3 Turntable Review
September 5, 2016 Comments Off on Music Hall Audio MMF-7.3 Turntable Review
“The Music Hall aptly propelled the swaying Nashville rhythms and blustery melodies of his music, although the top end was a mite dry and hard. But that’s nit-picking. Misty music filled the room, sweeping me up in a celestial swoon of sounds.”

Rega’s Planar 3 Turntable Review
August 26, 2016 Comments Off on Rega’s Planar 3 Turntable Review
“The P3 has never been famous for bass extension, yet the new Planar 3 offers more weight, more control and more texture than ever. Rifling through bass heavy tracks shows how much of a contender this table has become. Bouncing back to that totally 80s groove, the synth bass line in Paul Young’s version of “I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down” now rattles the room, where the old table politely offers up some bass.”

VPI Prime Turntable Review
August 25, 2016 Comments Off on VPI Prime Turntable Review
“So let’s not drag this out: the VPI Prime turntable combines elements from more expensive VPI turntables but uses a smart, new and very attractive plinth, the combination of which produces tonally neutral, well-extended performance, with a pleasing accent on smooth.”
