” The treble extension is much more natural and doesn’t sound coaxed or pushed thus creates a natural roll out rather than a forced impression. There is virtually no sibilance to presentation of the upper frequencies while there isn’t much in the way of harshness to the mid-range either. The Sovtec tubes still had a bit of hardness to the mid-range so the change in tubes is welcome addition rather than a subtraction.”

” The vacuum tube input stage combined with the output stage delivers an impressive analog signal for which the Orpheus can present to the listener faithfully with little or nor coloration in the audio. Now when comparing notes between the Sovtec and the Telefunken/Western Electric tubes, the latter is virtually transparent in the sonic quality.”
