“It wasn’t until I sat down one night to take some listening notes that I experienced what I’d felt like hearing them for the first time. While enjoying some 17th-century choral music — Allegri’s Miserere, from The Essential Tallis Scholars (16-bit/44.1kHz AIFF, Gimell) — I heard an amazing amount of stage depth and an impressive ability to re-create clear aural images. Through the SVSes, the voices of individual choristers were well resolved, and their positions in front of me were readily perceptible. It was as if the sounds of the singers’ voices emanated from three distinct places: the foremost was in line with the plane of the speaker baffles, while a second group slightly farther back had a touch more reverb to help accentuate their distance. The third group of voices were apparently singing to me from beyond the front wall of my room, conveying an illusion of so much depth that I seemed to be sitting in the rear pew of a large cathedral. For someone who places resolution and a coherent soundstage high on a list of sonic priorities, the SVSes tick the right boxes.”

“Besides the 16 drivers (2 Low, 7 Mid, 7 High) and 9-way crossover, King Arthur also uses a groundbreaking modular face plate system. It allows users to swap various face plate design to realize your personal style. The Vivid Acrylic is on default. Effect audio has included 4 different premium materials within the package as well namely: “Elegant Rosewood”, “Classic Carbon Fibre”, “Textured Leather” and “Metallics”.
The IEM itself is not the smallest because of the driver count and technology inside, but it’s not huge either. King Arthur is micro precision 3D printed with an acrylic shell. But it doesn’t stop there, KA also comes with a brand new super delux high-end cable, called the “Caliburn”.

Keith Monks Audio Record-Cleaning Machine $3450 Review

“Once the vacuum arm has reached the edge of the record, it will continue to move outward until it turns the motor and pump off. The entire process of brushing and vacuuming will take about 90 seconds. Some practice will be necessary to get just enough fluid on the record without waste. Too much fluid and the rapidly spinning platter (think 78rpm record speed) will splash off the excess onto the top plinth. Keep a tissue handy for the first few tries.
When it comes time to empty the waste fluid, you will also need to cut off the used cotton thread with a pair of scissors before putting the lid back on. Each record side uses very little thread, so if my experience is normal, you will only occasionally need to replace the spool. You will periodically need to use the provided Breakthemold fluid to keep the waste fluid tubes and jars clean. Just put a few tablespoons in a small dish and let the vacuum arm suck it up. After emptying that cleaner out, you are now ready to return to cleaning records.”

Esoteric N-01 Network Player $21,000 Review

“Esoteric combines multiple 32-bit DAC chips and a 35-bit D/A processing algorithm to process the digital signal with full 35-bit resolution. With old school 16-bit chips falling back in fashion, I prefer the logic behind processing with extended bit depth and that Esoteric implements it to perfection here. There are multiple upsampling and filter settings, but as with my experience with dCS and a few other manufacturers, I saved myself hours of agonizing and second guessing, using it at the factory settings.
Maybe the factory guys are on to something, because that always seems like the best balance of overall musical priorities. Other settings may provide a slightly warmer tonal balance or something else, but it always ends up being the thing that you keep changing, relentlessly. I found bliss with the factory settings.”

Audio Research VSi75 Stereo Integrated Amplifier $9000 Review
November 20, 2019 Comments Off on Audio Research VSi75 Stereo Integrated Amplifier $9000 Review
“n the end, the Audio Research VSi75 is a full stop, destination piece integrated amplifier. It’s capable of truly wonderful sound, and upgrade addicts should know that ancillary equipment upgrades will always pay off noticeable dividends with this highly transparent amplifier. I spent months listening to the Audio Research VSi75 with the AURALiC Vega G1 streaming DAC, Nola Boxer S3 loudspeakers, and Furutech DSS-4.1 speaker cables and DPS-4.1 power cable. Not surprisingly, each addition to the system provided substantially better sound, and I was confident that the VSi75 was showing each product in its best light. Some people need to be convinced that an integrated amplifier can deliver the goods of separates. The VSi75 delivers on that promise. It looks the business, too. It may not bring back the punk rock revolution, but at least the VSi75 can show that music in its best light. And with the music in your collection? Well…highly recommended!VSi75 Integrated Amplifier”

Campfire Audio Atlas IEMs $1299 Review
November 19, 2019 Comments Off on Campfire Audio Atlas IEMs $1299 Review
https://positive-feedback.com/reviews/hardware-reviews/campfire-audio-atlas-iems/
The treble of the Atlas falls in a more coherent and linear path than the slightly uneven frequency of the Vega. This is achieved by the elevated upper mids that naturally follow the sparkle of the lower treble. All the while, the character is smooth with a nice sense of height. Although not as sparkly as the Dita Audio Fidelity, the Atlas manages to retain an airy presentation despite its capable low-end.”

YBA Genesis IA3A Review

“The YBA Genesis IA3A is a seriously capable upmarket integrated amplifier. It has a very personable and charming sound, lots of power and quirky and original styling and user interface. Don’t let the unusual look and slightly odd ergonomics put you off, this is well worth a listen if you’re in the market for a solid-state integrated amplifier at the price”

IFI PRO IDSD 4.4 STREAMING DAC/HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER
November 17, 2019 Comments Off on IFI PRO IDSD 4.4 STREAMING DAC/HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER
“The iFi Pro iDSD 4.4 hits on all cylinders. As a DAC it is unparalleled in versatility and sound to my ear. The fact that it offers a triode tube analog section as well as a separate Class A discrete solid-state analog section puts it in a class by itself. As a DAC by itself, I would have no problem using this as a reference DAC, it is exceptionally musical, with an excellent but realistic soundstage, and it handles all existing digital formats. It has a wide range of digital filter options allowing the user to tailor the sound to their specific tastes, but no setting in my experience was particularly harsh or grainy.”
