Soulution 711 Stereo Amplifier $65,000 Review

” The Soulution 711’s completely “black” backgrounds and absolute control of the speaker drivers resulted in marvelously rendered soundstages. Listening to Livingston Taylor’s Ink (24/96 AIFF, Chesky) and other higher-resolution recordings convinced me that the 711 was capable of passing along musical information completely unscathed. “Isn’t She Lovely” was complete with extremely textured if lightly struck percussion, and string sound that was dense, but with sharp, crisp attacks. The sound never ventured into brittleness, and Taylor’s voice was as true as I have heard it. The soundstage was wide and deep, extending past my front wall and making my room “disappear.” And again, the sound was neutral, devoid of artifacts.”

Ayon Audio Crossfire EVO Monoblock Power Amplifier €22,500 Review

” So first of all tonal balance, as presented by Ayon Audio’s Crossfire EVO, is set bit lower than some people may be accustom to, although is it not that unusual for vacuum tube devices. But most of them achieve that by delivering a warmer sound with a rather softer/rounder leading edge. Subjectively, we perceive such performance as calmer, quieter, and with a less aggressive treble with perhaps smaller-scale volume levels.”

“We have to start with the bass. It is incredible that a triode tube amp, much less an amp with no negative feedback, at this price could have this kind of bass. The bass was fast enough to have good pace, rhythm, and timing; it also had good scale and power. I like the bloom it has in triode mode.’

” The Benchmark AHB2 amplifier and DAC2 preamplifier took complete, unfettered control of the universally acclaimed Revel Ultima2 Salon speakers and never let go. In fact, the AHB2 allowed the Salon2s to achieve pinnacle performance. At $2,995 the AHB2 isn’t cheap; but its build quality, materials, and astonishing sonic performance are a marvel.”

Ayre Acoustics MX-R Twenty monoblock power amplifier – Review

“Classical double bassists were served equally well by the Ayre MX-R Twenty. I used to love the music of Sibelius, but hadn’t played any for too long a time. I reached for Symphony 5, with Herbert von Karajan conducting the Berlin Philharmonic (ALAC files ripped from CD, EMI Studio CDM 7 69244 2). To underpin the work’s ambiguous tonality, halfway through the finale Sibelius has the double basses, normally used by composers to provide a solid foundation to the harmony taking place above, playing divisi two notes that “fight,” E-flat and F. With regular systems, the listener is aware that there is something “sour” in the apparently muddy sound of the basses at this point”

Elekit’s astounding TU-8300R Review

One thing really needs to be highlighted here: the Elekit is dead quiet. It’s so silent that some of my concepts have been turned on their heads as a result. The level of the noise floor (background noise) and self-noise that it does generate is so low that it’s less than most of the solid state amps I’ve used”

JADIS DA88S MKII INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER

“Another myth that the Jadis helps to dispel, particularly remarkable in light of its fairly low power rating, is that tube amplifiers can’t properly reproduce bass. While the Jadis does not produce the very deepest notes, it excels at delivering prodigious and harmonically rich bass that has a propulsive quality. The sumptuousness of the Jadis, the drive, has to be heard to be believed—and frankly, until now I would have disbelieved anyone who claimed that a 60-watt integrated amplifier could output this kind of power in the nether regions.”

“In ultra-linear, the midrange was clear, transparent yet it still had beautiful tonal colors. Midrange notes did not stand out because the presentation was overly warm or romantic but stood out because of how well it was integrated within the musical spectrum. There was nothing over emphasized or over exemplified. There was no hint of roll off in the top-end. Cymbals, for example, had very nice shimmer without any hint of splatter.”
