“aim has employed its proven SHARC processor and proprietary floating-point filter software in conjunction with a Burr-Brown chipset to provide decoding for the six S/PDIF digital inputs as well as the Ethernet, wireless and USB connections. The NAC N-272 is also DSD 64x and Spotify enabled. The digital circuitry is separated from the analog section using opto isolators, and all signal-processing functions shut down when one of the three analog inputs is selected. The volume control is a resistor-ladder design based on the one developed for the S1 preamplifier, and all analog inputs and outputs are relay switched for complete isolation from parallel connections. ”

BALANCED AUDIO TECHNOLOGY REX II PREAMPLIFIER AND REX II MONOBLOCK POWER AMPLIFIERS REVIEW $19,900 each

“Overall, the Rex II amplifiers delivered, when appropriate, a tremendous wallop—not a sledgehammer assault but a true sense of the scale and sweep of the music. One track alone sufficed to demonstrate for all and sundry who were at my house for a party that the amplifiers can deliver a prodigious amount of current—on Monty Alexander’s mind-blowingly good performance of “Night Mist Blues” at the Montreux Festival, the palpability, speed, and body of the piano as he slams the keys were staggering, enough to bowl over even non-jazz aficionados. The piano seemed to resound in the very space in front of us.”

Plinius Inspire 980 Integrated Amplifier Review

“But most importantly, the phonostage is dead quiet and, like the rest of the amplifier, it does not exaggerate or embellish. The Ortofon 2M has a similar sound, so if that’s your fancy, I can’t suggest this cartridge highly enough. Those wanting a bit more mellow/warm/euphonic sound should consider the Grado Reference Master 1 Moving Iron cartridge. With a 5-mV output and requiring 47K loading, the Grado will add a bit of warmth to your system’s tonality, which is especially useful if your record collection consists of mostly jazz and classic rock.”

“It seemed that the Icon pair could always give the music a lively bounce. With Kings Of Leon and Come Around Sundown [Sony] the Icons gave you the power of the drums and bass (even though the bass weight was moderate), and revelled in the over-the-top guitar sounds.”

“The Inspire 980 costs $4,450, which is not chump change. But given the quality of all the elements within—amp, preamp, DAC and phonostage—it’s actually something of a value-oriented purchase. Yes, you can get greater realism and refinement from more expensive standalone equipment, like Plinius’s own reference-level products. ”

“I was curious to hear how Benchmark’s design ethos of compact products would translate into designing a power amp. A couple years ago, the Devialet shattered my bias that amplifiers had to be massive to sound good, and so today I find myself much more open-minded to smaller amps like the Benchmark.”

B.M.C. AUDIO CS2 INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER REVIEW

” You aren’t listening for the detail or defining the soundstage. You are listening to music, as a complete and contiguous whole. It’s like it manages to combine the grace of a good valve amp with the power of good solid state. That combination of effortless power and a lot of respect for the music makes the CS2 the perfect foil for some of the larger, more demanding, and great sounding loudspeakers out there. They brought my Wilson Duette Series 2 to life (but that’s not really difficult), they brought Avalon Transcendents to life (a much harder proposition, especially in a small room), and practically everything you could put on the end of this amplifier sounded like it should.

” So often memories make things sound better than they actually were, but I was delighted to find that it sounded even more beautiful than I remembered. I was very impressed with how these amps and my Teresonic let the beauty and tone of this recording come through. Both the violin and the piano sounded very natural and the right portion of sound one to the other. You could hear the space in and around the instruments nicely and the decay and attack were spot on.”

SILK MC-100B Tube Integrated Amp Review

http://goo.gl/aBRqjK Read Here

“All in all, the Silk MC-100B integrated amp is a well balanced sounding amp that is very versatile in it’s use since it can be an integrated or power amp. I had so much fun listening to and playing with this amp and considering the price vs. performance this is a no brainer for someone looking to get into tubes or taking your system right up to high end status. Think of it; for the price of a lower mid-fi solid-state amp from Best Buy or such, here you have a true entry level high-end amp that will run circles around any mid-fi amp”
