Campfire Vega Review

“The high frequencies are sussed out in smooth but detailed manner. They help define the overall signature not quite as “fun” in the exaggerated manner, but more of a level-headed response to excitement and more importantly, a solid take on reality. Not fatiguing in the least, reach upward is decent with doses of “special”, depending on source material .The mids may be a spectacular as the Andromeda, but the emphasized bass shifts perception away from the vocals. This isn’t so say that the low end covers the mids in any way, but rather produces a slightly different voicing between the two. Retrieval of information is the centerpiece here, with the bumps and valleys of FR playing second fiddle to the overall intent of piece. The feel is dynamic as the driver suggests, but also lively with a dash of spice on either end of the spectrum. It’s a hair less dry than what one might expect from your typical BA construct, with layers of organic response pieced together for a tack sharp image that makes its way to the furthest edges of the frame.”

LZ BIG DIPPER REVIEW

” Separation is wonderful if you leave the 1st switch closed. If you open it to get more bass kick, it veils the mids a little bit unfortunately. So you don’t get the best resolution that this IEM offers that way. But if you can live with a flatter, reference-like bass character than you can leave the switch off and enjoy a great instrument separation. In addition, transparency across the mids is wonderful at all times. Especially listening to female vocals is a joy. You can hear their voice perfectly clear as long as the recording is well mastered.”

FINAL AUDIO E2000 / E3000 REVIEW

“The midrange is clean and neutral, and I am not hearing any weird peaks or valleys. Although it doesn’t have the body of the E3000, like I said before, it most certainly is not thin sounding. More importantly, the voices (especially the female ones), take their proper place in the sound stage. This still isn’t the IEM for people who like their vocals to jump out in an unnatural way. Voices just sound right.”

AUDEZE LCDI4 IN-EAR $2495 REVIEW

” Both portraying a wide and deep soundscape and literal wall of sound, the LCDi4s were able to go from a very quiet and intimate opening to a large, expansive and dynamic finish, really showing the dynamic range of these IEMs. “Kept Woman” really reiterated what I had heard with the previous song, incredible sound staging, very natural frequency response and an incredible ability to extract the smallest details from a recording put the LCDi4s into a very small and select group of in-ear monitors (and full sized headphones for that matter) with these outstanding capabilities. But what truly set the LCDi4s apart was just how big they sounded. I previously thought that world class sound staging was only reserved for full sized open-backed headphones, but I guess that’s no longer true.”

Beyerdynamic Xelento Remote In-Ear Headphones $1,000 Review

“Next, I sampled the 2017 remix of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. For this demo, I compared the Xelento Remote, which has a single 11mm dynamic driver, with a pair of custom-fitted $1,099 Jerry Harvey Audio JH13 Freqphase in-ear headphones that use six balanced-armature drivers in each earpiece. The Xelento Remotes’ sound was awfully good, but the JH13 Freqphases were clearer and more dynamic, and their bass was more pitch accurate, though less deep. As a custom-fit design molded for my own ears, the JH13 Freqphases did a better job hushing external noise. That said, the Xelento Remotes’ eartips have a shallower insertion, and for that reason, they’re a more comfortable set of headphones to wear.”
