“We did not experience Death By Powerpoint, as Marc’s opening presentation was quick yet informative, and he mentioned one aspect of their design process that DIY hobbyists and more competent design engineers should recognize. If you build a piece of audio gear solely adhering to abstract specs, such as “flat frequency response,” the result may be subjectively unacceptable. A smart designer combines subjective listening with objective measurement to arrive at the final solution.”

HiFiMan RE300h In-Ear Earphone Review

” The RE300h takes the HiFiMan house sound and makes it more consumer-friendly by skewing the usual near-neutral balance in a warmer, bassier direction. In 2009 – three generations back in HiFiMan terms – the RE1 model attempted something similar but it was pricier and suffered from relatively low efficiency, which made it less well-suited for the mainstream consumer. The RE300h has no such problems – it’s easy to drive and the bassy and forgiving sound signature feels right at home at $50.”

LABKABLE CUSTOM IEM CABLE REVIEW:

“It comes with an octo braid tubed design as opposed to the Takumi’s flat cable design. The cable is designed to be extremely low impedance using a combination of silver wire along with low resistance solder. The Blue Horizon cable has also received a special anti-oxidation coating in order to stop discolouration and degradation over the long term. In use now it has been my go to for when out and about sound is crystal clear just as it should be.”

” My first impressions of these and one that has continued through this day is that these are a bassy earphone. Initially this was fairly surprising as I had heard the Evoke and Evolve at ACS’s labs and both had great balance but this has a clear focus on mid bass but continues with some solid extension down low”

” The presentations are quite different even though both are supposed to be references as the midrange is much more in-your-face from the LR, and the upper midrange even more so. The more laid-back presentation of the NT-6 doesn’t give the focus on note articulation of the LR, but it does give a more spacious and larger overall sound. From a frequency response perspective, the treble of the NT-6 is much more prominent in comparison to the upper midrange while the LR is the opposite, with a relaxed treble region; treble quality of the NT-6 is a bit higher. Bass is more prominent with the LR and rumble and reverb are more pronounced, although the NT-6 is as capable”

” The mids sit just behind the lows in terms of presence, but they do not sound recessed. Vocals shine through with good detail and no sibilance, both male and female vocals sound even in their presentation. Electric guitars have power, and the mids are always present and engaging, acoustic guitars have body and decay.”

CAMPFIRE AUDIO THE LYRA IEM REVIEW

“Lower midrange is perhaps more akin to the bass response being full but polite and staying slightly muted however detail and zip picks up with a more forward vocal range. There is a slight bit of sibilance now and then on some vocal tracks with the stock cable but nothing distracting. ”
