“There doesn’t seem to be a huge amount of treble presence, this does mean that they aren’t fatiguing or tiring up top though, no sibilance either, which is a good thing. You do feel there is something missing though, it’s just not quite there, not the complete package and I can’t help feeling there is a missed opportunity for a great bass heavy earphone with just a little more tweaking.”

As expected from the boosted treble in the 4C variant, the treble extension is nothing short of spectacular. Again, it matches the endless extension of the Rock-it Sounds R50 and is definitely a standout feature of these IEMs. At higher volumes, the treble can become overwhelming but this can be attenuated with the right tips (double and triple-flanged) and reducing volume levels. I would describe the treble as effortless, airy and detailed which is what I feel LEAR were aiming for with the tuning of this mode”

“Mids are more forward in the soundstage compared to the Earsonics Velvet. Like the Velvet, they are smooth, lush and inoffensive whilst at the same time offering a decent amount of clarity.”

“The mids for the most part handle male and female vocals well, there is a little warming from the lows but nothing overwhelming, but these also seems to be a peak in the upper mids that accentuates the sshh, it is not ear piercing sibilance but it sounds a little odd. The mids do retain good detail sounding quite balanced and clean, and you can easily distinguish between the different sounds in the mids. ”

” Its contrast is heavy. And its bass, at once slamming and foot-tapping, tends to bottom out when given a job too big. Jobs too big for it include lots of slamming mid and upper bass. ”

“Despite housing both a balanced armature driver and an 8mm dynamic driver, IQ makes few, if any, missteps in blending bass with mids, mids with highs, and back and forth ad infinitum. It has the semi-steep U-shaped signature we’ve come to expect from hybrids, and its high contrast sound image helps bring out small stereo details. ”

NHT SuperBuds Review

” Coming back around to sound, it almost seems like NHT set out to out-Beats the Tour 2.0 by tuning the SuperBuds to be slightly bassier, warmer, and richer-sounding. The SuperBuds’ bass is a little slower and its midrange – a little more veiled – but the smoothness can sound more natural and the presentation is a little less compressed. The Tour 2.0 is marginally clearer, a bit less full-bodied, and less forgiving at the top. It is also worth noting that the Beats are significantly more sensitive – potentially an issue for the SuperBuds with listeners who wrongly equate loudness with sound quality.”

“The clarity in the mids, and the rest of the frequency spectrum for that matter, is excellent. The LUF-4C proficiently extracts micro details from tracks and leans towards an analytical sound signature. It is important to note that the LUF-4C is quite heavily dependent on tips and so it is crucial to get the right ones for your sound preferences. ”
