KISO ACOUSTICS HB-X1 STANDMOUNT LOUDSPEAKER REVIEW
November 27, 2015 § 1 Comment
“The Kiso Acoustics HB-X1 is always going to be a niche product. It’s a small speaker for a big room that sounds like a much bigger speaker, and many will just buy a bigger speaker instead. But not everyone: some want big speaker sound without big speakers, and are prepared to pay big speaker money for the best small speakers they can get. And, they are exactly the people who will be seduced by the utterly captivating, utterly believable sound. Through the Kiso speakers, If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears is more than just an album by The Mamas and the Papas!”

” Living Voice Vox Olympian surely represents a grand statement in our industry. I’ve had some reservations with the Munich High End Audio presentation as room was too smallish. Now, here in Poland the story is very different. This is the room these beauties deserve to really shine. Both audible and aesthetically.”

Sonus Faber Chameleon T Loudspeakers

The Chameleon Ts’ revealing quality and ability to re-create an atmosphere were especially apparent when I listened to Jeff Buckley’s Live at Sin-é (CD, Columbia/Legacy C2K 89202). Recorded in two afternoons in the summer of 1993, the two discs of this Legacy edition are more than worth the price of admission, even for casual Buckley fans. Even as an emerging artist, Buckley’s performances were masterful, and here he commands the attention of his audience with a captivating measure of self-assurance. What makes the album extra-special is the quality of the recording, which does an excellent job of capturing the ambiance and atmosphere of the NYC café. The Chameleon Ts did a fine job of transporting me to Sin-é: I could clearly hear the bustle of the bistro, the random clinks of glassware, the chattering of the crowd — it all convincingly conveyed the feeling of what it might have been like to sit in the audience for those shows.”
KHARMA ELEGANCE DB11-S LOUDSPEAKER $54,000 REVIEW

“The attention to small details in the dB11-S is phenomenal. For example, the floor disks into which the SDSS spikes fit have optional inserts made of diamonds. The speaker cable clamping system is also highly effective and easy to use—and it provides a very secure connection for spade lugs in either single or bi-wired configurations.

” They define the leading and trailing edges of the piano notes well, delivering the dynamic variation with skill and intensity. There’s plenty of harmonic information here, and the ability to remain composed when things become demanding.”
ATC SCM 40A Speakers Review $12,999

” While I noted that the new tweeter is more precisely controlled, in the listening seat you’ll not hear a buttoned down precision, so much as a lighter and more elegant touch, surprisingly reaching down into the upper midrange. It is most certainly not bright. The treble was sweeter, more relaxed and a more delicate presentation than my Vifa sourced tweeter. Oddly, I’d call that more accurate. They are, to my ears, an order better than previous models.”
TAD Compact Evolution 1 $24,000 – Review

” The TAD CE 1s are a superb set of speakers and I positively hated to send them back. If there was some way I could have found to keep them myself, and the associated electronics, without winding up either in divorce court or in jail, I would have done so. The level and quality of bass that came out of those stand-mounted speakers would have, by itself, been an impressive achievement. Combine that with the sublimely rendered midrange and treble from custom made concentric drivers using cutting edge materials and you have something very, very special indeed.”

Audience ClairAudient 1+1 V2 and V2+ loudspeakers Review

“All the versions of the Audience ClairAudient 1+1 are worthy of whatever associated gear or cables; you can afford to pair with them. The ability of the ClairAudient 1+1 to produce a reach-out-and-touch-someone soundstage, to my astonishment, is even better with V2 and V2+. It was already the best I’d heard in my house for under $17,000. I would say that the V2+ speakers are the reigning king of this much-desired attribute of high-end speakers.”
